Hi there. I had heart attack in September and also heart failure diagnosis.
When I am moving around or walking I get a dry throat and a feeling like trapped air in my throat, I can continue the walk for 20 mins and don’t get breathless but I’m left with a sore throat. My GP thinks it’s a side effect of one of the medicine and is trying to work out which one it is? I take Aspirin, ticagrelor, Bisoprol, Ramipril, Rosuvastatin ( I couldn’t tolerate Atorvastatin )and omeprazole. Has anyone ever experienced this?

I am not having the problem you have but I am getting indigestion and I am on a lot of tablets and have a feeling one will be the cause as I did not have it before so I think it sounds like your Doctor will be right and I will be interested to see how they work out which one it is because I am speaking with my Doctor tomorrow and will be telling them about the indigestion and I was wondering how are they going to work out which med is causing this
I hope they work out which one is causing the problem for you and you don't have to put up with this for much longer
I am a newbie on here only 6 weeks ago I had my heart attack , they put me on Lanzaporol which is not working , I have heard of the one you are taking but I don't hold out much hope if that is not very good either
For me been in the early days the indigestion is not what bothers me most it is the discomfort which sends me in a panic thinking O no what is happening
Hi I had a bypass some 8 months ago, and since leaving hospital, have what seems like cotton wool in my throat, and at night my nose runs and causes me to cough, I am starting to think it’s the bisoprolol
I take a lot of tablets, and this seems to be the main offender
Hi i had a heart attack 2 months ago and also had reflux and was on 40mg of esomoprozole and 40mg Famidine. I am on a lot of tablets and am constantly thirsty and had a really bad dry cough especially on a night. I cam off rampirili but the cough took almost 8 weeks to go away. My reflux is worse and suffer from a lot of acid which causes acid to rise into my throat every night and i wake up each morning with a sore throat and end up sucking on cough sweets all day. I am not sure which medication is causing this but apparently i cant change any more.
Hi Ellester, I also suffer from acid reflux at night and that annoying feeling in the throat that makes you want to cough. One thing which has helped me is a foam bed wedge, it raises the upper part of the body fat better than pillows, and stops the acid escaping from your stomach. Also not eating for three hours before bed. Bisoprolol can also cause post nasal drip which makes you cough. Try the bed wedge , they can be got quite cheaply and it may help you.
Hi I was on bisoporol and Ramipril. But Ramipril gave me dry cough so my doctor changed it to candesarten. After having candesarten I have sore throat and stuffy nose and muscle pains in my hands and below shoulder.
Ramipril definitely has an effect on my voice/throat and my Doctor confirmed that was the cause; he asked a final year medical student which of this persons medication would cause that and she immediately said Ramipril...
Ramipril caused a dreadful reaction in me. Only took it for three weeks and it caused severe angioedema, swelling in eyes, throat gut etc. It became v dangerous due to chance of choking. The throat effect made me hoarse. I am still not fully recovered 6 months after stopping. Wouldn't recommend this drug to anyone. It wasn't an allergy but severe side effect. Could be that?
