3 weeks ICD post op

Morning All,

Said I would, so here I am updating you all.

Wedding is postponed by 2 weeks. Right that's the important stuff.

ICD seems to be fitting like a glove. I'm having some mild chest pain, like a dull ache really, went to hospital tuesday and xray and bloods came back fine. No one can say what it was or wasnt.

Wednesday my HF nurse rang to say she noticed I had been in. We discussed moving to Entresto however she was concerned about my systolic BP being under 100 so after consulting my cardiologist they decided against it and to leave drugs as is for now. Im currently on Ramipril and Bisoprolol.

More concerning, I asked her how may segments were in the heart ...she couldnt tell me.

About 3 weeks ago I had a letter from my MRI saying that 8 segments were dead.

Does anyone know how many segments there are in the heart?

Thanks in advance

Jim

Hello Jim...

There is no straightforward answer to "how many segments?" as there are a number of models for segments, regions and edges which can vary between echocardiogram, CT and MRI scans. You need to call the imaging department who performed the scan.

I saw in your profile that you are diabetic. How long have you been diabetic? I have been Type I for well over 50 years and had a quadruple bypass (more a smart motorway 😊) in 2018.

Thanks Michael. Will look into segments further. I am assured that I am type 2 diabetic. I was diagnosed with diabetes the day of my HA so 2.8.2020. Just over 3 months. I manage it with tablets and insulin. 50 years. Wow! I guess you have seen a few changes in medicine and advice? Any golden nuggets for me as a relative newbie for my heart health and diabetes?🤞

I was told there’s 14 sections of the heart by the echo tech

Thanks Boo Hoo. I think my damaged 8 segments were after my MRI Scan. Will keep investigating 👍

Hopefully, this stem cell treatment/ patches will be rolled out over the next few years which may be a game changer in terms of dead heart tissue buddy

I'm not sure I know anything about that. Another thing for me to research perhaps
