BETA BLOCKER

I know these sounds weird, but I ran out of Beta Blocker for a few days and guess what I no longer have ectopics beats. I cannot believe that they were the cause, but they must have been. I was initially prescribed them when I had palpitations before I had a stent fitted and they work a charm, but after the stent I was kept on them. I tried taking Magnesium but it made little difference and I had some really awful ones. A week ago I ran out of Beta Blocker and I have not had a bout since. So I will not be taking them again. Thank god, they made me feel really ill and my blood pressure is fine. I already take medication for that.

I've responded very well to Bisoprolol (1.25mg once a day) but some don't tolerate it well - what does your medic say, have you informed her/him about what happened when you ran out of the medication? Have you informed her/him of your intention to not resume taking it?

No I have not. I saw the cardiologist a few weeks ago and told him that it made me feel bad so he changed it and that is why I ran out as there was about a week in between the last one and getting the new ones, but after I stopped taking it the ectopic beats stopped. I was originally on it because I had palpitations before I had the stent, but now I have had the stent put in I do not get palpitations any more, but I did start to get the ectopic beats and taking magnesium didn't help in fact made them worse, but now I am free of them and my blood pressure and pulse rate are all fine.

I am not due to see the cardiologist for another year. I think they just forget as I have never seen the same cardiologist twice and they still had me on patches and I didnt need to use them at all so now they stopped those.

I shall not be taking the beta blockers again, the served their purpose before I had the stent.

What did the cardiologist change the Bisoprolol to, was it a lower dose or a different beta blocker?

Different beta blocker. I have not picked it up yet from the pharmacia. I doubt if I will take it though. They made me feel so ill as well as making me have ectopic beats. I am free of those now and that is the way I want to stay and also I feel 10 times better. I was moving around like a snail on those and I was only taking 1.25 which I changed myself from 2.50mgs. I do not need them.
