Changed consultants?

It looks like I’ve got a cardiac consultant who specialises and special interest in stress perfusion, cardiomyopathy but doesn’t say spasms on his profile, wonder why I’ve changed, must be that he’s got more experience thank goodness, anything is an improvement on what I’ve had up to now.

Just got the letter about it and no chocolate 😱🥺🥺

Just flutter your eyelashes and he will be super attentive.

Seriously best of luck hope you get a positive outcome

Fluffybee in reply togilreid1

I’ll try a flutter but he’ll think I’ve got something in my eye, I’m not good at that sort of thing, my face will probably just distort 😂😂

Thank you for your support 🤗

I guess a flutter with the eyelashes is a LOT better than a flutter in the atrium.... (which is what I had before my cardioversion).

I don't think I have ever seen any Cardiologists list that they are a specialist into Vasospastic angina.

It is the rarest type of angina with clear coronary arteries.

Not even the Prof at St Thomas hospital I have seen.

Your Cardiologist is as specialist in Imaging so probably just the person for you to see.

Fluffybee in reply toMilkfairy

Yes he does sound much more experienced in what I need him to be in.

Must be why I’ve swapped, very happy with that, I hadn’t really realised how unusual the spasms are.

Thanks Milkfairy 🤗

Wowsers!! What a huge relief....someone who's actually hopefully going to understand at last 🤗🤗🤗🤗 Perfect!

I know it’s amazing how things have changed in the last few days, maybe this consultant saw my notes with A&E Dr saying ‘he doesn’t know much about heart things !!!!!!!!’ Not that that’s what he wrote but seen they didn’t even get my pain under control before I left.

🤗🤗🤗🤗

Ninjanoo profile image
Ninjanoo in reply toFluffybee

No it's not right to be left like that - it's been the same when I've had to go to A&E. They seem to forget that you would rather not be there yourself if you could avoid it!!

I'm so pleased that you are going to be seen by this other cardiologist things sound a lot more promising for you at last 🤗🤗🤗

Fluffybee in reply toNinjanoo

I know I really felt I was wasting everyone’s time and No one believed me.

Yes hopefully things will be much better now, 😃

Ninjanoo in reply toFluffybee

Never feel like that - I've been shouted at in A&E before but you've gone for a damn good reason. It's not like we go weekly or even monthly! You're never wasting anyone's time xxx

Oh no Wellie flump you really need to get that sorted !

You shouldn't even open a letter from them without chocolate supplies 🍫🍪 got any choc chip cookies ?

I have a hidden stash so if you are in need I will add wings to my wellies and deliver 🦋

I do hope this change is a good one, as you say can't really be worse.

Sending a virtual 🤗 or 🤗🤗

I think I read one of your posts and your in Norfolk? Do you attend N&N? I had the same referred to one consultant but before the appointment changed to the one that specialised in my condition. A friend’s husband was also changed to him from another after his MRI and diagnosis.

Fluffybee profile image
Fluffybee in reply toSarahJLD

Yes I do go to the N&N that explains things then, thank you for sending that, are you ok now ?

I’ve got HCM so it’s one of those conditions where some symptoms are managed and others you learn to adapt and read your body

Hi Fluff

I have Two different Consultants one is an intervention Cardiologist the other is a Specialist in Heart Failure who fits all types of devices to aid Heart Function.

After having a bypass of my LAD and Circumflex it was thought impossible to do anything with my 100% blocked RCA.

But after having stents put into my already bypassed LAD my Intervention Cardiologist did say should I suffer any further angina he would attempt to open my RCA but I had to understand the Risk associated with this Procedure.

One general point my ejection fraction did not improve after the bypass surgery and the further stents so my Cardiologist would only open my RCA should I have Angina. Which I take to mean bypass surgery is more to prevent a Heart Attack than to improve Heart Function !!

So as you can see there are Specialists in different fields of Cardiology, just hope you get a good one !!!

Hello, Fluffybee,

I went yesterday for my Perfusion Stress scan. Sailed through it. In and out in just two hours. As you say, no chocolate, tea or coffee for 24 hours prior. Definitely the worst part! Perfusion rest scan next week…..

Fluffybee profile image
Fluffybee in reply togolfcity

They didn’t mention to me about 2 separate days but I know from ‘mintteaplease’ that it can be done beforehand then the stress test within the same appointment.

Was it painful when they made your heart go faster, what did it feel like, pressure ?

golfcity profile image
golfcity in reply toFluffybee

Not painful, more strange. It was like the feeling of your circulation 'speeding up' whilst, say, a brisk uphill walk or similar but without actually doing anything. That was the strange part. After about 2 minutes the medics said they were satisfied. They then injected the isotope and I felt a slight cold feeling in my arm . No pain at all throughout. All the time this is being done, my HR and BP was monitored and the two medical people there were very re-assuring throughout. I then had to sit and wait for an hour before they did the scan which was straightforward in the usual polo mint shaped scanner (but smaller than the MRI kit). You put your hands in the air and rest them on a padded bar and a 'box' lowers down onto your chest are to do the actual scan. 7 minutes total. The radiographer(?) checked that the scan was OK and I was discharged. He took about a minute to check scans. If not OK you would be be re-scanned. As I mentioned my unstressed scan is next week and there is NO caffeine embargo. Hope this helps.....now back to the Toblerone.

Fluffybee in reply togolfcity

Yes that helps a lot thank you, I have a walnut whip waiting for me tomorrow, even though they’re half the size they used to be 😳

Did they say how long you’ll have to wait for results ?

golfcity profile image
golfcity in reply toFluffybee

I didn't ask about feedback as I have the second part go do next week, but I expect the response would be something along the lines of...the cardiologist will review and send results back to GP unless, I suppose, there is something that require more immediate attention. I'll mention it next friday and ask how long the review process could be.

Fluffybee profile image
Fluffybee in reply togolfcity

Yes that’s what I’d expect as well.

Just had a phone call from the department, thought they were going to cancel but she said as it’s such a specialised test they ring the day before and check all is ok and I think it’s a reminder.

Either way it won’t be long.😊

golfcity profile image
golfcity in reply toFluffybee

I understand its quite expensive given that radioactive material is ordered specifically so they want to know that there are no hidden obstacles on the day. I had a call about 10 days before to establish meds, weight, a few lifestyle q's and whether I would have any problems with the physical aspect e.g. hands in the air during the scan. As I said yesterday, I sailed through it, one reason being most of the prep was done on the call.

Fluffybee in reply togolfcity

Hi. golfcity

Did you have no effects at all during the part they make your heart go fast, ??

Fluffybee profile image
Fluffybee in reply togolfcity

It could be as it’s all on the same day that I cannot have any caffeine for 48 hours or maybe they’re just being mean 🤭🤭

ellj profile image
ellj in reply toFluffybee

No chocolate for 48 hours is exceptionally mean 😠

Fluffybee profile image
Fluffybee in reply toellj

I know !!!! Just found a gluten free blueberry muffin in the cupboard but it didn’t let me down was so dry as I bit into it it fell into a load of crumbs, feel sorry for myself now.

It’s only until Friday, no food at all on the day but I’m fine with that knowing it’s going to be done 😃😃

How are things going on up there where you are ?

ellj profile image
ellj in reply toFluffybee

Glad you can cope until after the MRI, it would be easy to avoid the tea/coffee/chocolate if they didn't tell you it's banned. Once they forbid it it is then naturally what you fancy 😉

Heard from granddaughter today that she is not feeling too well and 8 of her group are isolating with symptoms 🙁

QE has cancelled my cardiology app, that's ok. They have covid patients in general wards apparently so I was rather hoping they would cancel.

Apparently I have not been put down for a phone consult as there is nothing to talk about yet 🤣 their opinion not mine 😂

My heart failure score from blood test was " moderate "

I almost said that can't be right !

I have never been known for moderation 😂🤣😂🤣😂

Think of all the treats you will deserve after Fridays appointment 🙂 you will have the perfect excuse to indulge.

Extra cuddles with the furry one will get you through and lots of us rooting for you.

I shall of course walk for both of us with some wellie stomping tunes on Friday.

🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

Oh my goodness, your granddaughter !!!!!! I hope she isn’t feeling to bad, fingers crossed everything for all of them is ok and a false alarm.

I don’t blame you for not wanting your cardiology appointment this virus is all over the place.

I must admit with my appointment tomorrow it quickly came and went whether to cancel it because of the virus but they would say if it needed cancelling, now I’m hoping I’ve got just one day to go to have it done so just get it done sited long enough.

I’m sorry but I don’t know that much about heart failure, some things but not details.

Is your blood test result a change for you?

I haven’t been to bad with not having coffee and chocolate, thought I’d be climbing the walls by now, think why I’m doing it is making it easier, I’ve got stickers on everything in the kitchen ‘don’t eat’ ‘ don’t drink’ I think you can quickly just pick something up without thinking, especially chocolate !!!!

From tonight I cannot eat at all until I have it done. I need to check I can take all my meds in the morning just incase.

My beautiful dog is called Mika, pronounced meeeka lol it means little one 🤗🤗

Oh yes do a wellie walk for me and I’ll do one for you this morning that’s if it ever stops raining ☔️

I’ve put some new tunes on my phone so I’ll be hitting a different pitch today 😂😂😂

Hail to the wellies !!!!!

Love wellie flump 😂😂😂

ellj in reply toFluffybee

Hi there I am counting down the time for you too.

If you asked I would force myself to have extra portions of coffee and chocolate for you, wouldn't be easy but as a fellow wellie wearer I would be willing to fill my boots for you as a huge sacrifice you understand 😜😂

Love the name Mika, hope you both soon get warm and dry after your wet walk !

We shouldn't wish our time away but I will be happy when tomorrow is over with on your behalf.

Better the devil you know 👿

🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
