I’m in well paid high pressure IT job and am feeling some ‘guilt and anxiety’ about not having opened the Laptop yet. I just don’t feel ready in my head yet to jump in.
My work very supportive and not exerting any pressure but I just don’t want to feel a fraud. What is reasonable time out after CABG to be going back to work.
Any advice appreciated.

I worked in IT when I had my bypass. At 7 weeks I did some customer support via Team Viewer and found it far more draining than I expected. All things being equal I would say three months but with a phased return be it short days or a reduced number of days. I did three short days, 9:00 - 15:00, initially.
Ha, yes Michael, couldn’t belive COVD/CABG however might also easily have been my muffled mind! I must admit that a mixture of COVID/CABG has scrambled my brain a bit, how about you? I read your story with great interest, boy, you have been through a lot. I wish you all the best with your ongoing health. I liked your car pic, are you a petrol head, I do like my cars. Have a great day Michael and stay strong, I’m going to stick with your advice and go back to work Eary November let original plan.
The normal advice that's given is back to work six weeks post CABG for non physical jobs and eight weeks for physical jobs.
You won't be 100% after these time periods, full recovery can take up to 12 months, but these are the guidelines that are commonly quoted for when most people will be capable of returning to work.
