Coping with ectopic beats.

I have written several posts on here about my ectopic heartbeats which I have had for over 4 years, but only at nightime while I am lying down. Unfortunately after every test under the sun and 3 different cardiologist, I am no wiser about what is causing them or a satisfactory treatment. So I thought I would ask how other people cope with their scary ectopics. Can anybody share about what they do about theirs. Do you have a routine or tips to share or maybe you take a "magic pill " or something. I know I am clutching at straws here but this is seriously hacking me off.

Thanks

Hi , I’ve had ectopic beat since I was 30 Iam now 67 going on 68 ! I wish I knew the answer how to deal with these other than take a beta blocker or in my case I’ve been prescribed Flecaine over the years which Iam not keen on taking , so only when I can’t take anymore do I take them. Been under Prof Shilling for years at Barts , his knows his stuff , but like you I have had every test under the sun , I had a revile tape put under my skin for over a year , taken in for an ablation but they couldnt bring on the extra beat !! So that didn’t work... only this week as soon as my head hits the pillow my heart starting skipping 😫 especially when I lay on my left side , so I’ve had hardly any sleep , rung doc yesterday , had ECG this morning and blood test , once again Doc said ECG is fine 😨 Not that I want it to be serious but it really does get me down ..I do need to lose some weight , so I’ve put myself on a diet , see if that helps. I wish I had some answers for you.. I’d like some too 😬 I’ve started taking magnesium tablets to see if helps.

Sorry I’ve not been of any help being in same boat ..

All the best though

Sue

CBD, magnesium and acupuncture have helped me quite a lot. That and no coffee, minimising stress as much as possible and taking St John's Wort (Hypericum) to dampen down the adrenals. Hope this helps you, too.

Yea, I have answered something similar in the past. I had the exact same a few years back and was told the ectobic beats will never leave me even with medication. I said I ain't suffering with this no way, too scary; so I lost weight even though I did not have to, but I did know that when the heart has next to nothing to stress itself, weight wise it settles down. I did go ahead with the weight loss and the ectobic beats settled. Maybe coincidence, but its worth a try, and after all why not. Bye the way I'm 75 and have cardiomyopathy and feel fine.

I started getting EBs about 6 months ago having had a double bypass in October last year following an MI in September last year. The level of burden following various tests was only 1% but nonetheless it is very uncomfortable as you know. I started taking Magnesium Taurate (2 tablets a day) about 3 months ago and the EBs have almost completely gone. Cannot say for certain it was the Magnesium but seems highly likely. Cardiologist has reassured me that the EBs are benign and tbh after getting that reassurance I have given them less attention and focus. That also helps.

Check Dr Sanjay Gupta's Youtube channel York Cardiology. Myself I had a period of bad ectos from March. I started Magnesium Citrate 2 x 200 mg per day about 3 months ago and a month after that they significantly decreased a. in frequency and b. severity when they are there. As another poster, can't be sure of cause and effect but the longer I go free of them, having had ectos for years on and off, the more I think it could well be why.

I’m having them more regularly now especially when it’s cold l was diagnosed years ago with no follow up. Mine actually hurt when my heart jumps. I’m going to phone gp to see if l can be referred back to a cardiologist. I hope you can get some answers. Best wishes
