For the last few days my teeth on one side have been severely painful and I'm scared that I'll have to have teeth out. Does anyone know the reaction(s) between Bisoprolol and anaesthesia?

Hello and welcome to the forum!
I assume you are talking about a general anesthetic rather than a local here. With regards to BP medication the usual guideline is to stop ACE Inhibitors, AT2 Antagonists and Diuretics. Beta blockers, like Bisoprolol, are not usually stopped. Often people with heart conditions (although you do not say I assume you have one because of the nature of the forum) are on anti-clotting and/or blood thinners like Aspirin and Clopidogrel. These also need discussion.
However, assuming you are having a general, you must discuss your individual situation with the anesthetist!
Hi! Thank you for the reply and I hope you're having a lovely day! I was also wondering about local anaesthetic too. I had to have my teeth out years ago before I had braces but at the time I wasn't taking medication for my heart.
Unfortunately after general anaesthetic for a broken ankle I came out of the anaesthetic with Svt but wasn,t fully awake and aware of it until the next day.
Hi KittyMiwk
I’ve been trying to find out the answer to that one as well, didn’t think of asking on here 🙄
I have an abscess on my tooth since the beginning of lockdown, the pain comes and goes but now it’s painful all the time and an earache. I’ve been booked in for sedation as the tooth needs digging out and I’m pathetic at dentists. A year or so ago before these meds I was apparently talking about sniffing peoples beards, didn’t have a clue about it until my lovely dentist told me then decided not to say anymore so goodness knows what I said.
Need to clear my mind this time 🥴 how embarrassing!!!
There are no issues with bisoprolol and GA, and it’s one of the few meds you don’t get told to stop for any kind of op. There’s no reaction between beta blockers and locals either, and it very definitely shouldn’t be stopped if you have SVT or AF: as I discovered, even with daily medication taken as directed, normal local anaesthetic (e.g. lidocaine) can trigger SVT and AF. If either of those are a condition you have, request an adrenaline free local for any procedure. Most if not all dentists routinely stock this to the best of my knowledge.
