Hi all, was found to have High BP nearly 12 months ago, unable to find a BP med that works, changed nearly every month, think Dr is just working their way throuh a long list.

In june was put on 1mg of Doxazosin along with Indapamide2.5mg and Bisoprolol 2.5 twice a day.

start of Sept i received a prescription for 4mg of Doxazosin, when I questioned this I was told by the surgery that I had been on 1mg twice a day since August, so the Dr must have decided to increase it. Pointed out I had heard nothing from the surgery since speaking to the Nurse in june, plus I had not received the extra meds in August, nor had the DR had any BP readings.

I have still not heard off my Dr but another one phoned to say i was to start taking them twice a day.

I noticed I was passing more urine then with just the Indapamide, plus I have now started with very bad pains in my right hip on walking or climbing the stairs, which is a problem as my bathroom is downstairs, so am in agony trying to get back to bed,

so not sure if pain is a mixture of Bisoprolol ( had leg cramps when started them) and Doxazosin, Plus they are doing nothing to reduce my BP

Hello Ryamber. I'm not on Doxazosin, but I do take Bisoprolol. Practically from Day 1, I've suffered from hip and leg pain on one side only. It seems to come on in the night, when I need to go to the loo. The longer I wait with full bladder, the more searing the pain becomes. I've mentioned this to the Doctors and they say 'Oh that's strange' and leave it at that! I always thought it was the Tycagrelor I started at much the same time, which I was able to stop at at last just yesterday, being 1 year exactly since they started. I'm sure there is a link between the hip pain and bladder, certainly for me anyway, and you could be similar. It only affects me at night, when suddenly I find I have to go to the loo practically on the hour.

Speak to a cardiologist (not a GP, no disrespect!). I’m on 10mg bisoprolol daily and whilst I have not got your symptoms / side effects, I do have some others!

The other drugs I take are different to you, then we are all a little different too...

Trying to speak to my Dr is a trial in its self,

When I questioned the prescription change the Dr was unavailable, another Dr was supposed to contact me, but it was a totally new Dr that called, i explained to them that i had not spoken to my Dr at all, i had asked for a call but the day before i had a call from receptionist to say the Dr wanted to know why she was calling me.

I really felt like I was a waste of her time.

So to get any further is not going anywhere.

I was on 4 mg Doxazosin and 5mg Bisoprolol plus Amlodipine and Ramipril after hypertensive crisis. Doctored dropped the Dox to 1mg and increased the Bisoprolol to 10mg after I started having frequent palpitations. Doxazosin apparently cause them to worsen.

Not had any really bad side effects but have completely dropped the Doxazosin now and definitely feel better.

I have only just joined this board . I was on Indapamide 1.5 SR for 6 months , at this point my hips and back became so painful I could barely get up the stairs ( had been walking 2-4 miles a day) After trial and error with every thing else I stopped the Indapamide, my life changed in 2 weeks ! Eventually became pain free and currently still trying other drugs but all causing problems. I believe the Indapamide removes excessive Potassium.
