I have naturally low blood pressure (100/60) and usually a resting heart rate of 63. But have recently had palpitations. I was taken to A&E for checks, because I nearly passed out. They don't happen often and I think I can track when I get palpitations to dietary intake.
I have recently been prescribed 1.25 ... - British Heart Fou...
I have recently been prescribed 1.25 of Bisoprolol and I feel shocking. My resting heart rate is down to 54 bpm and I'm dizzy. Is this ok?
I was dizzy whist taking Bisoprolol 2.5 mg so Drs reduces it to 1.25 same as you .it made a difference and now not so dizzy .Perhaps you can ring your Gp for advice.
I was like a zombie on 5mg of bisoprolol- they reduced it the 2.5 then to 1.25 & I now seem to have found my happy place with this med!!!! I too was dizzy & my resting heart rate was around 50. Now back up to around 60- so def worth a chat with gp.
I felt awful when I was on jr. Constant headaches with dizzy spells. My hands and feet were freezing. I had no energy whatsoever and literally would tire walking up the stairs. The doctor changed me to calcium channel blockers (verapamil) still don’t feel great but I feel much much better.
hi I'm on 2.5 bisoprolol and first month was awful dizzy frequently. ive got used to it now and fine most of time. I was told 2.5 was min dose interesting people are on 1.25. I've never had high blood pressure but told they would like reading of around 110 , which it is now.
Yep sounds familiar. If you're taking other vascular meds as well could be your bp is falling.
Check your bp when this happens.
Go back to gp.
I am on 2.5 of Bisoprolol and had a few dizzy episodes at the beginning. 5 months on now and so far, so good. I did have high BP before my cardiac episode, it`s settle down to 100/62 with a pulse of 56. For an `old girl` of 75, not too bad. lol
I would certainly arrange to see your GP to discuss the matter. I guess it all depends on why they put you on the Bisoprolol in the first place. I was only on a 1.25mg dose after my AVR in December 2019. Each person is different, but for me it was the worst thing ever. I had a normal blood pressure and have always had a low resting heart rate. I suffered from severe dizziness and nausea, sometimes almost collapsing. My wife even had to call the paramedics on one occasion. I was lucky enough to have a home blood pressure monitor. I began to check my blood pressure each time I had a dizzy spell. Luckily enough when I presented my GP with the results he immediately took me off the drug completely. Even though I was on the lowest dose, it still took a couple of weeks to get out of my system. I felt so much better once off the drug. Clearly the drug works very well for many people, however for my it really was the worst thing. I now only take my warfarin for my mechanical valve and no other medication.
I’m not sure that my reply is going to be of much help since I was put on Bisoprolol to slow my heart.
I have AF and three leaky heart valves and have been on Apixaban for a couple of years. A year or so ago I was having frequent fainting spells and that was when I was prescribed Bisoprolol. It worked in that the fainting episodes stopped but I do have side effects - very cold feet and nose which drips a lot !! However I’ve accepted this as I am reluctant to change to another medication which may have worse side effects. Apart from these I feel fine on the present medication but B did take a while to get used to. I’m 77 .
I was put on bisoproral after my heart attack. I didn't have high bp but it was to repair the damage done. It was awful. I kept passing out with no warning but dr just said he couldn't take me off them. I was just glad that it was a bungalow I lived in. The rehab nurses were great though. I was just like a zombie and had one of the faints at a rehab session. They contacted the dr and i was taken off them. The first of many trials I had with mefication. Honestly I felt that the meds were worse than the ha!! Think I am just unlucky though.
