Hypokinesis
Hi Shell. This sounds like one for the experts! Have you contacted BHF nurses before? They are v good and will try and answer any questions or point you in the right direction for good information.
.
Hi no I haven’t tbh when I was discharged from hospital 2 years ago after having a mini heart attack I wasn’t told anything and had to complain to pals 4 times before I got a cardiologist who actually listened to me rather then just saying it’s not a heart attack as your to young. I was never told to talk to bhf nurses before I thought u only spoke to them if you had spoken to them in hospital. It’s only coz I have a cardiologist appointment next month that I was going over my discharge notes again. Sorry if I sound clueless but I really am when it comes down to this
I am sorry. I had meant to put in the contact details for BHF nurses on here, Heart Helpline team on 0300 330 3311 Mon-Fri 9-5pm or email hearthelpline@bhf.org.uk
They are very helpful, and knowledgable.
If you find the answer, would you mind posting it. My husband has this on his last echo report but not yet seen cardiologist to go through it. I thought it meant stiffening of the Heart walls but would be interested to know if that's correct.
Yes I will be more then happy to post the answer. I think that it is that as I was told that my left wall has thickening in the middle of it and the middle walk stiff so it not relaxing to push the correct amount of blood through.
That's pretty much the same as my husband. His last echo in 2016 said there was evidence of the hypokinesis but the echo in March said it was severe. However, his EF had improved considerably so was gonna go through it with cardiologist in his 6 months check up, which would have been June but covid got in the way! 😏
Hi i had a reply from bhf nurses here what the said Hypokinesis means a reduced movement of the muscle. In your case the septal area (the part of your heart that separates the left from the right) and the apical area (the bottom of your heart) have been affected.
This could be because you've had a heart attack in that area of your heart and it has caused reduced movement in that area.
