I was told on Thursday my heart was very weak after Dobutamine stress test. EF 25. 6 months post HA. No ankle swelling no breathlessness after exercise no dizziness. Feel good yet was shocked when told I needed ICD. Haven’t been told to curtail my exercises of walking cycling cardiac rehab type exercises. Got to stay positive and keep active and keep HF from worsening. Good Luck.

Yes, thats me. Or was me. Told I had severe heart failure with EF low to mid 30s when I was first diagnosed. It was a shock, not least because I felt fine. Asymptomatic, apart from a bit of tiredness. I got really depressed at one stage and it wasn't helped by contradictory advice and delays in getting an MRI etc. It's difficult to know what to do for the best. I tried to continue doing everything I wanted to do, which I pretty much succeeded in doing. I did reduce my working hours and I plan to retire earlier, in about 12 months time. Obviously Covid makes things more complicated now and if it wasnt for Covid I'd be looking to retire sooner and go travelling. An ICD wasn't ever seriously raised with me. My EF improved with medication and was around 50 last October.

Since then things have gone downhill. I had to come off my arthritis medication, because of the heart failure, and have had a severe flare up during lockdown where I've been unable to access treatment. I think the lack of arthritis treatment has affected my heart as it got really out of hand by the failure to intervene early. I have an echocardiogram tomorrow so I'll know soon.

I too just want to get on a live as normal a life as possible, I thought I was getting there before this set back, but hopefully even if my heart has been affected it can improve again? I just want to be able to see my son graduate university next year and fulfill at least soon of my retirement plans. I'm so with you in the desire to get on. I wish you all the best.

Hi Yasyass, my LV is severely damaged after HA and my EF is 35%. Because of the amount of scarring that has formed I have an ICD for primary prevention and it causes me no problems at all. After 10 months I barely notice it. Pre Covid I went on holidays with no issues. If you are feeling healthy then carry on doing the things you love and enjoy yourself! Good luck 🤙

Hi, my HF is severe with 25% EF. from HA ten weeks ago, have an echo early August, if EF doesn't improve, advised I am eligible for ICD. Was in hospital last week, fluid on lung, taking 120mg of ferusomide at home at present. I Wondererd if I have tried to hard to rehabilitate without much sleep has set me back. Told to take complete rest. Taking a light touch sleeping tablet at the moment to help.If you have anxiety/ low mood, a lot of us get it, had some private treatment recently which has made a significant difference. The NHS has people to help you - Paul
