Do I have a problem with my heart?

Hi all,

I have had this situation the last few month we’re I wake up in the night with stabbing pains in my chest and I literally can’t move. What I mean by this is , if I were to lie on my left or right side the pain intensifies so I’ll lie back on my back and then the pain will ease and disappear in a few minutes and I can go back to sleep. The reason I haven’t had this checked out is it feels very surface based, like it shooting pains in my nerves/lymph nodes as when I push on certain areas of my chest I can feel little lumps or tissue that hurt were the shooting pains are.

Just lately, I have had these pains more frequently, and happen in the day randomly or as I’m exercising. And just in the last few nights, I have woken up with a pounding heartbeat which sometimes lasts a few minutes, and others all night we’re I can’t sleep, as my body whole moves with each beat.

Any ideas,??

Many thanks,

Andrew

Just to add, my blood pressure and pulse seem within range when I do spot checks every fees days, just because I happen to have a machine in my house.

Hi Walt46,

As Thatwasunexpected advised. The best person to ask is a medical professional.

Please call 111 or make an appointment with your GP.

Hiya, Walt, and I'm adding a third voice to the chorus - contact your GP as soon as possible and report you're having chest pain that wakes you in the middle of the night. Please - it could be something as 'simple' as heartburn but it could be something else and only-only-only your medic can make that determination.

Please keep us updated as you go on.

Hi all, thank you for your comments. I had an ECG yesterday and that all came back fine. I still need to see my GP as they pains are still there and I feel like I get bad attacks when I do cardio. Could there still be a problem with my heart do you think?

Thanks

Andy

There is always the possibility. But don't get too anxious just yet.

I had an ecg by a cardiologist, and even he said they don't always show much (unless it's arrhythmias etc). He double checked with an ecography.

Hi Walt - see your GP - it could also be Princzmetal - Variant angina. Can hit like a ton truck, but usually stabbing pain. Horrible. When it hits, I use the Natispray, that soon calms it all down. There is a good f/b group, worth joining. But first, check on Variant angina, then will need diagnosis. Not too many doctors or cardiologists seem to be that aware of 'variant' angina ! Goe well.
