I've had latest blood test results yesterday. All results slightly worse that is heart function, kidney function, thyroid function, and diabetes which I've just received the honorable label for! So this is now going to be a full time job. The first action has been to reduce my bumetanide to see if the kidneys pick up a bit. And I'm being referred to kidney specialist but warned that they are unlikely to offer any treatment other than medication. So not sure where I belong now. I felt so cosy and comfortable with the heart group.

Hello Love100cats... I have had Type I diabetes for over 50 years and have reduced kidney function (eGFR). One suggestion I would make is that you acquire a BG meter. The meters are not expensive so I suggest to your pharmacist to see what the best deal is for meter and strips (ongoing cost). Diet wise I recommend carb counting - Mediterranean diet limiting carbs to around 100gm per day. The kidney specialist will probably advise you if you need to limit protein but I would suggest you stick to smaller/average portions for now. Fell free to post or PM any questions.
There are various other communities on MY and about three diabetes forums on the web. Personally I find this one the most supportive overall.
Hi Love100cats - may I suggest you consider reading the book “Undoctored” by cardiologist William Davis which has been incidentally a New York Times bestseller, not saying it’s the answer for you but well worth the read in my humble opinion
