I’ve recently (3-4 months) moved from Ramapril to Losartan and haven’t had any problem with a glass or two of red wine. I tend to drink it quite slowly.
It has the usual notices but my question was has anyone else experienced this rapid effect of a couple of glasses of sauvignon blanc. It is most unlike my husband. He seldom gets drunk and for this to happen twice in as many weeks made me think. The change from Ramipril to losartan is the only thing that's changed over lockdown. We've decided to knock it off altogether now to be on the safe side.
I have atrial fibrillation ,Raynaud's and anaemia, My resting blood pressure isn't high (110/80) but was prescribed Nebevolol for the AF. My blood pressure dropped. and I started getting vertigo until I realised I was also taking Losartan (for Raynaud's) and two other medications which were effectively also BP lowering.
I used to get dizzy and fell over once when I'd had a glass of wine. I stopped drinking alcohol altogether and stopped all the meds except MMF which was important fo my blood problems.
I understand that drinking too much alcohol tends to increase blood pressure but an occasional glass relaxes your blood vessels and reduces blood pressure!.
