Hi

My husband recently changed from Ramipril to losartan and now after 2 glasses of white wine is absolutely paralytic.

I've had to help him to bed etc on the last 2 occasion when we've had a drink.

He is not a big drinker so this is a first for me. In truth it's usually the other way around.

Is alcohol proscribed for losartan, or any of the other meds?

We aren't advocating a daily piss up but the weekly glass of wine is our treat and we can give it up if its a problem.

He is s 75 yo. Any advice?

I’ve recently (3-4 months) moved from Ramapril to Losartan and haven’t had any problem with a glass or two of red wine. I tend to drink it quite slowly.

No problem for me either with two glasses of Red with dinner and have taken Losartan for over 15 years and I'm 85.

In every box of pills is a piece of paper. What does that say.

It has the usual notices but my question was has anyone else experienced this rapid effect of a couple of glasses of sauvignon blanc. It is most unlike my husband. He seldom gets drunk and for this to happen twice in as many weeks made me think. The change from Ramipril to losartan is the only thing that's changed over lockdown. We've decided to knock it off altogether now to be on the safe side.

That's exactly what I have done for different reasons. 3 beers and my heart races away. Stopped now for good.

I changed from Ramipril to Losartan and enjoy a few drinks a couple of nights a week. I didn’t notice any difference.

Hello

I have atrial fibrillation ,Raynaud's and anaemia, My resting blood pressure isn't high (110/80) but was prescribed Nebevolol for the AF. My blood pressure dropped. and I started getting vertigo until I realised I was also taking Losartan (for Raynaud's) and two other medications which were effectively also BP lowering.

I used to get dizzy and fell over once when I'd had a glass of wine. I stopped drinking alcohol altogether and stopped all the meds except MMF which was important fo my blood problems.

I understand that drinking too much alcohol tends to increase blood pressure but an occasional glass relaxes your blood vessels and reduces blood pressure!.
