Heart muscle aneurism

My hubby was diagnosed severe heart failure following an un diagnosed heart attack last year. mri results found he has an aneurysm in the heart muscle which requires surgery but lots of risks. Came out of blue and shocked us a bit. Anyone been through this too? Thanks its just knocked us sideways as just got headcaround heart failure!

Hi Collmj, my husband has HF due to a previous heart attack. His latest echo shows the apical inferior/septum & anterior portion (which I think is the heart wall between 2 ventricles (maybe someone on here will say if I'm right or wrong) is aneurysmal, is this the same thing?

Thanks for reply, I'm not sure, they just said he has aneurysm in muscle wall of heart.

Sounds like the same thing. I didn't know it was operable, my husband has had an aneurysmal heart wall since at least 2016!

They said its significant (although unsure what this actually means?!) that they suggest surgery or could be fatal if not operated on, risks either way as its open heart surgery I think? Perhaps someone else has had surgery for it and could advise us?
