I had a quadruple bypass in November all seemed ok apart from blood pressure going up and down I also have blockages in my neck and legs
The help I am after is I keep getting numb tingling feelings on my chest more to the left side than right they stop me from doing things as I want to sit down when this happens
Because of covid my follow up appointments were cancelled I had a phone call from cardiologist from Derriford hospital and I mean this with all respect he was from Pakistan as I am Glaswegian I think we both had understanding issues I told him of these pains he said they had removed a large artery from there when I told him my BP was going to 92 54 sometimes he told me to stop taking my 10 mg of lisinopril after speaking to my GP he advised to cut it in half my BP is better most of the time now but still this numbness
I have received letter from hospital telling me I don’t need any more follow up
So all I had was that one phone call from hospital no ECG or x ray
If anyone has experienced this numbness please share

I had AVR and bypass done nearly 4 years ago, they harvested the artery from the left side of my chest, my left side was numb for about 6 months, when I saw my surgeon he told me when they harvest they rip the artery out! So after the op the nerves have a bit of trouble sorting themselves out to join back up, and it should right it’s self in 6-8 months he was right on the money. I also had the feeling of someone ripping an Elastoplast off it’s a sort of tingling. Even now occasionally I can still get that feeling.
I get an echocardiogram yearly but that’s to check on my new valve, and make sure the pressure is ok. When I saw my cardiologist 6 months after my op he said my heart was now mended and would only go back to clinic if my pressure goes off, everything else I see my GP. Drug review blood tests.
Hi had quadruple heart bypass in March still have numb feeling in left side of chest again like you no follow up just phone call told it was normal.I did have severe pain but now settled and managing to walk daily
So pleased to read your doing well, the numb feeling will go eventually I was told it’s the nerves sorting themselves out after the artery being harvested, so it’s onwards and upwards.
After an abdominal operation ( Not heart) I had numbness for over a year where they damaged a nerve. Nerves are only like very thin cotton so it's very easy to damage them.
My husband had a quad bypass in November 2018. It wasn't until December 2019 he noticed the tingling/pins and needles had disappeared! The left side of his chest is still numb but causes no problems.
I think opening the chest up so the surgeons can dive in has something to do with it!! There's bound to be nerve damage. Some repair but some just give up and get annoyed.
