Anyone had problems with amlodopine
Hello and welcome to the forum! Please could you expand a bit? What are you taking them for, what side effects are you experiencing and what other meds are you on?
In a nutshell, yes! The most common side effect with Amlodipine seems to be ankle/lower leg swelling which if left can cause permanent damage to the skin of that area - at least that has been my experience. However, we are all different in the way we react to medication - what suits one may not suit another. For instance, my hubby takes it without any obvious problems as does my neighbour and a close friend. But even for them I have my reservations - both hubby and neighbour had to have pacemakers fitted within months of going on Amlodipine, and my friend developed atrial fibrillation. Plus a respected women’s hospital in the US were involved in research investigating the possibility that Amlodipine may not be suitable for women over a certain age heart-wise. It certainly caused a vascular reaction in my lower legs. As I mentioned, it may not suit all. And if you are taking it and experiencing unwanted side effects, there are many other blood pressure meds to try.
Hi there
Welcome, I take amlodipine, trying to get an appointment with my Gp as I was increased to 10mg which did seem to help with the variant angina etc but my lower legs and ankles feel tight.
Hopefully get an appointment soon.
I take it and suffer from painful swollen legs
I used to take 10mg and had very swollen ankles and feet. Now on 5mg and still get some ankle swelling.Gets the bp job done though.
Hi ,Good morning Jackdaw19.
I have been on Amlodopine for 4 years and, yes I do have side affects since taking them. The Lowe part of my legs and ankles get very swollen and painful.
My legs also feel very heavy and painful.
The past few weeks i have also noticed that my skin on the bottom of my legs
have got very tight and shiny.
Have asked my Cardiologist if she could change them, but she said that my Heart wasn't strong enough to manage without
them. She said that it was up to me.
Swollen Legs or worsening Heart Problems. So I stayed on them.
Im gonna ask my G.P for something else though, because my legs are worsening.
Along with the Amlodopine, I take Bisoprolol and Monomil XL,also have the
Trinitrate Spray that I use under my tongue when I get an Angina Attack.
I also take Aspirin..
I take these tablets because ive got Valvular Heart Disease and Angina, also got C.O.P.D.
We are not all the same. We all react different to different medication.
If you are experiencing any side effects, have a word with your G.P or Cardiologist..
Hope this helps and you'll be feeling better soon😊. 💜🌈 💚.
