I started noticing loud sounds in my left ear at the beginning of the year when near traffic, restaurants, crowded places, Ambulances etc. I can’t hear people talking to me when there are background noises and I don’t know why it has happened. I have been tested and I’ve lost the low sounds in my left ear and they say my inner ear has been damaged where it controls sounds. I am having an MRI this week on Wednesday. I don’t go to concerts or loud places so I don’t think it’s happened from the environment over the years. I would also like to know if any one has a CRT-D or other pacemaker defibrillator fitted and has a blue tooth hearing aid? Ive measured and it would be just 6” or less from the hearing aid to my heart device? So I’m worried it may be too close. Thank you in advance.

Has anyone had loss of hearing problems since diagnosed with heart failure?
hi…when you were diagnosed with heart failure did any of your family have to be tested for heart conditions? Thanks
Yes I was tested for the gene but they said it wasn’t that but they can’t test every gene so my daughter son and sister have had echocardiograms to see if they are ok and recommended they are tested every 5 years. X
Hi, I had hearing issues when I was taking bisoprolol and amplodopine. I’m on different medication now, and those issues have now gone.
What hearing issues did you have? Since my great attack, I have a constantly blocked right hand ear, similar to what you get when swimming.
I put it down to a side effect of the medication I'm taking.
I take Bisoprolol 2.5 once a day. They’ve told me the hearing loss is permanent but I’m seeing my cardiologist beginning of December so I’m going to ask the question about Bisoprolol. Thanks.
I take Bisoprolol so what did they swap it for with you? They’ve said the hearing loss of low sounds is permanent but I’m having an MRI tomorrow to see why the high pitched sounds are very loud and exaggerated. It drives me mad as I have to avoid noisy places all the time. If it is the tablets I’m worried it will happen in my right ear as well. I should know more when I get the results from the MRI. There is a non cancerous tumour that can grow on the hearing hairs that destroys them if it gets too big which would mean an operation but it still wouldn’t restore the hearing as the damage is already done. I’m freaking out about that also incase it is that. Thanks for your reply. X
Likewise. It was so bad I was referred to ENT consultant. No one ever made the link with the wretched, dreadful, bisoprolol and/or ramipril I was taking at the time. I’m still on amlodipine.
'morning honeybubs, I wear a hearing aid and have tinnitus also, but since taking lots of medication for heart failure I have a popping noise now and again. Best wishes.
Thanks for your reply. Is your hearing aid blue tooth and have you got a pacemaker/defibrillator? I’ve got to have an hearing aid in my left ear and it’s very close to my device? That’s another question I’m going to ask Cardiologist when I see him in December but just wondered if anyone else has one on the left ear with a defib fitted? Thanks.
The main issues with something like an Apple watch or Fitbit are the bioimpedance measuring and the magnetic charging, not the Bluetooth.
I have similar hearing problems as well! My work has sent me to occupational health, the GP there told me, after all the tests, that it is age related and nothing can be done about it.
After a second appointment and retests, the nurse has told me to get hearing aids via my own GP.
I feel that I’m always getting something wrong with me since I was diagnosed and started tablets. I wasn’t on any tablets before up to 63 years old. I am 65 now. There is no way of knowing what causes these problems. Since we take more than one tablet it’s difficult knowing which ones we are sensitive to. I’m having my MRI at 4pm today but won’t know the results straight away. It may be nothing to do with medication so we will see. Will let you know what happens. X
