First I do realise that neither of these mentions heart disease directly. However, diabetes is one of the major risk factors with heart disease. Many here are diabetic or pre-diabetic so this is of interest to them. I would therefore ask that people do not post political or irrelevant replies which lead to arguments and threads being locked.

Professor Partha Kar, who’s the National Speciality Advisor for diabetes at NHS England, appeared on Channel 4 the other evening. What one can conclude is that the younger you are the lower the risk from diabetes, and that good control of glucose levels and weight is essential for everyone. Here is Dr Partha Kar on Channel 4:

Thank you for posting. ever since this blew up I've been trying to get an answer to a very basic question. If someone is successfully managing a risk condition (ie pre diabetic or insulin resistant) are they still at the same risk as someone who is NOT managing their condition and is continuing with an unhealthy diet, no exercise, overweight etc?

Your article indicates that taking active steps to manage your condition will lower your risk of dying should you contract Covid-19.

Once again, thank you for the link.
