Been on heart medications for 9 years and no trouble. But Ranitidine was withdrawn last November, put on Omeprazole but find I still get indigestion, changed to Lansoprozole and it’s no better. Still get a lot of indigestion. Has anyone else had this problem?

An alternative to the ones you have tried is Esomeprazole.

Ranitidine is an H2 histamine receptor antagonist. More direct alternatives are Famotidine and Cimetidine although the latter is rarely prescribed.

So there are alternatives to try. Hopefully one will work for you.

Apologies if this message was a bit piecemeal. The latest Android update has messed up predictive text and other features!

Same for me but couldn’t take ranitidine couldn’t take omprazole. Was put on lansoprozole still very bad indigestion so was told to increase my dosage to two every morning have been doing this now for 2 weeks and feeling better but having to be careful what I eat. I can still get indigestion if I eat bread or too many carbs so have reduced these. Unfortunately I do not seem to be able to lose weight whatever I eat! So now no sweet stuff except berries and maybe a small banana and make everything from scratch myself so I know what’s in there. The minute I eat anything out of the now norm I get diarrhoea. Had a call from heart clinic so planning to discuss this with them on my appointment next week.

I'm also needing an alernative because I'm allergic to PPIs. I've managed to get Ranitidine up to now froma chemist with a large stock but that's running out. GP seems to have no suggestions except trying a different PPI but I was told if I was allergic to one I would be to others.
