Saphenous Vein Graft Failure

Hi all, I'm wondering if anybody has had any experience of what I believe I'm experiencing at the moment?

I had a triple bypass in 2006 and for a long time, things were pretty good. I enjoyed my golf and could play 3 or 4 times a week, walking around with an electric trolley. Over the last few years my ability to achieve this has diminshed and I'm now at the stage where I have not rejoined my club because I just would not get my money's worth (don't think I could be classified as tight, but that might be for others to say :-)).

I now only have to do a bit of exercise and I tire very quickly. Another aspect, which I think is strange, is my blood pressure drops quite rapidly into the 90 over 60 range. Sometimes my heart can also be out of rythm, sometimes not, (I am in the AFIB forum). I normally have high blood pressure which is controlled by drugs quite well. The sort of exercise I'm on about is for example, painting a bathroom ceiling for a half or three quarters of an hour. No gym work or anything remotely associated.

I was due to have a cardiac consultaion on the 21st April, but of course Covid took care of that. So I have been googling away and have come to the conclusion, rightly or wrongly, that one or more of my grafts from 2006 maybe failing/blocking. I do not suffer angina as such where I experience chest pain, just this tiredeness, breathlessness and light headedness, if I move too quickly.

Be good to hear from someone who has gone through something similar.

TIA

Henry

I'm sorry to hear that Henry.

You really do need expert medical advice, self diagnosis and internet chit-chat aren't reliable. I would however say that angina doesn't always result in chest pains, sometimes the symptoms are just as you describe.

Hopefully with lockdown easing you'll soon get the testing you need.

Good luck!

Hi Henry, painting any ceiling is hard work as you probably have your arm above your head and are looking up for long periods of time + paint fumes!!

Maybe your medication needs a change. Maybe worth speaking to your doctor or contact the cardiologist again - hospital departments should still be working even through this crisis.

Take care.
