many people and particularly Cliff and Julian have helped me on my journey since the incidental finding in Sept 2021 of an ascending aortic aneurysm and bicuspid aortic valve . I am due to have elected planned surgery in Morriston south wales on April 20 and hope to report back after the operation. Many thanks to all who have taken the trouble to reply to my posts

aortic graft and valve
‘elective’ even!
dear Robert
Three years ago I had a Replacement aortic valve. It’s a big op but very safe. Nothing like other hospital treatments, staff and surgeons are so well qualified that it’s a special experience. It takes a few months to recover, but I felt a little better every couple of days. Then I had my life back. Wonderful, fabulous,. Good luck.

I also had Aortic Valve replacement in 2009 having been born with congenital heart disease. Pretty painful to begin with but every day was better than the day before. I’ve been fine ever since except for bouts of AFib, which I can live with. My husband also had an aortic aneurysm. I wish you well.
It sounds like you’re in geat hands! All the best for the operation and I look forward to hearing about how it went when you are back online and well enough to report back.
thanks
Wishing you all the best for your surgery. Keep us updated.
thank you indeed
Just sending you every best wish for your surgery Rob - please come back and let us know how you get on. Carol
thanks indeed. We have a grand daughter nicknamed Ce-Ce from Boudacea
Best wishes Rob!
My son was diagnosed with a bicuspid aorta valve out of the blue! It’s a worry, as are all heart related problems, but I wish you well and look forward to your posts
I found out at 61 after my best ever season of cricket and having done lifeguards and rugby and was totally asymptomatic! How is your son and any issues with aorta? Is he going to be under surveillance?
He will be 50 this year and lives in Spain and he’s a member of this group “Andywags”. I’m sure he’ll respond to you! @
I’ve had ecocardiograms and last June I was referred for a CT scan, which I’m still waiting for!
can you go private?
I used to have Sanitas (Bupa) but they had not even offered to do a CT scan or regular annual echocardiograms. I dropped the policy last year after I saw the state cardiologist. The state care and advice was much better and the company private health insurance costs soared. So just stuck waiting to get seen, I keep chasing it though! I fractured my arm 2 months ago in three places so when I go to X-ray every few weeks I ask and radiology are chasing the cardiologist.
Thank you for the kind comment and, as always, all the very best. Here's hoping everything goes as planned and looking forwards to positive updates!
thanks julian . You have always been so supportive
