Pain in stent area

To anyone who understands stents-:)

I have had a stent placed since 16 months ago and started instroducing bicep and tricep curls using 2kg dumb bells. Could this cause mild pain/discomfort in the stent area. It doesn’t affect my breathing but I just thought to ask this group if it is normal to feel mild discomfort in the stent area? Any thoughts or opinion is appreciated. Many thanks

I don't understand what you mean by stent area. You mean your heart surely.

Yes exactly-:) sorry being too descriptive as I asked my doctor at the time if the stent was exactly where I am claiming it is🤪

Not sure I qualify as having an understanding of stents... but I’ve had four since the start of March.

Whilst rehab is early days for my, the guide that I have done too much is short sharp pains in the heart area. Sometimes a dull ache for a day or two. But I have/had pericarditis so could be that too. If I back off exercise for a couple of days I feel better and then start again more slowly.

I don’t know about your situation, are the exercises you are doing new to you? Bicep curls I find ok, but I depends on your form, what’s tense and how tired you are making yourself compared to your normal exercise. Are you using strictly your arms or are you rocking slightly and so tensing your core?

Tricep curls I’m not sure what you mean?

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I have always exercised but have had shoulder injury and had to stay off weights for the last 4 months, as a result started to lose muscle mass (not happy!)

So decided to start Cardio and start weights, only light weight. Could be that I need to stay off weights but hate the thought of it.

You obviously know your exercise regime, if the pain is new and you get it regularly 16 months after stents I would have thought be worth getting checked out? Hope it improves and you can get back to your weights 👍

Many thanks👍🏻

I had a stent at the start of October 2019 and within a few days I started having a feeling of discomfort on the top right of my chest which I thought was due to the stent. I was told not so but then I had to have a pacemaker after a VT. Since then, as well as the pain from the actual pacemaker, I get a feeling of discomfort across my chest which comes and goes and just eased with paracetamol. Seen doctors at surgery and A&E several times when really bad but no one can find a physical problem.
