Hello...Four years ago l had a aneurysm on my aorta and as a consequence to this it was decided that a operation to replace the aortic arch and root was necessary. The sooner it was done the better. I found all this out because l had had a problem with my aortic valve passing, so l had a mechanical valve fitted at the same time. All went fairly well except my heart beat was intermittent l left hospital on Warfarin and bisoprolol fumarate the latter to help control my heart rate. After about a year I went back to work (heating engineer) although after about four hours l was exhausted, so I carried on working just the mornings as and when. It's now been four years since the operation and l am still only able to work for short periods. Just recently my heart beat has gone from 60 resting to a 110 and doesn't seem to be pumping any where near as well as it was, in fact it feels like it's labouring and about to stop, its still erratic with no specific rhythm. I'd go to the doctors but there so busy at the moment. I'm 64 now.....any one had the same symptoms?

Hello, I had valve replaced nearly 4 years ago, a tissue one, and from reading your post you really should get to see your GP, or contact your Cardiologist. They keep telling us that the NHS is open for none virus problems my husband who as had a stroke as had a couple of problems over the past few weeks and I have had telephone appointments with his GP and this morning a video call.
If only for your peace of mind it needs checking out.
Hello. I’m with Pauline and would encourage you to reach out to your gp. I had my aortic root replaced 6 months ago and life is mostly back to normal but my gp is currently helping me with some funny spells I’ve had and the support has been great. You don’t mention how much exercise you’re able to do but walking regularly within your limits makes a big difference over time. Best of luck.
Thank you so much for your advice, l rang 111 and spent the night in my local hospital, where they managed to slow my heart done from 140 to 80 bpm by upping my bisoprolol from 1.5mg's A day to 3.75 twice a day. I feel so much better and.......well thank you for your time and advice. The paramedics were brilliant. Feeling your heart race like that and hearing the constant clicking of the valve is a experience I dont want repeated.
