Ive been diagnosed with connary artery spasms but there seems to be conflict between drs as to if its been a heartattack or spasm .

They did but the first dr said it was a heart attack the second the cardiologist said it was probably a spasm.

Hi Rainbow1961

I have lived with coronary vasospasms for 8 years . I have microvascular and coronary artery spasms.

Despite the input from world experts my vasospastic angina is still not well controlled.

It takes trial and error to get the correct combination of medication that will work best for you. The usual treatment is calcium channel blockers.

Beta blockers should be avoided as they make the vasospasms worse.

Then it is really important to work out your triggers. Mine is the cold, mental and emotional stress.

A severe coronary artery spasm causes changes to your ECG such as ST elevations or depressions, T wave inversions.

Sometimes the heart muscle is bruised and a protein called troponin is released into the blood stream. It can be sometimes difficult to tell the difference between unstable angina ( acute coronary syndrome) and coronary spasm.

I have an Admission Plan which clearly states my diagnosis and guidance on how to care for me for the A&E and Cardiology staff.

Unfortunately the awareness of Vasospastic angina is not great.

I suggest you talk to your Cardiologist and ask for a letter explaining your condition with your diagnosis and a review of your medication.

My Cardiologist monitors my heart function.

My heart function blood tests are so far normal NT pro BNP

My Cardiac MRI last August showed my heart muscle is in good condition

The challenge for me is living with an unpredictable chronic pain condition that lands me in hospital from time to time.

in reply toMilkfairy

I know its the unpredictable way it presents that makes it difficult to manage.

Thankyou
