Thank you NHS

Well what a year! All started a year ago. Went to see nurse at doctors surgery with what I thought was indigestion. Ambulance called, stemi HA in ambulance and stent in LAD same day.

Another week in hospital with second angiogram - all ok

Started rehab and completed my 12 sessions but carried on as changed my meds halfway through!

Big GI bleed in August with 2 week all inclusive stay in hospital with 6 units of blood.

Restarted rehab twice a week. Really loved it and staff were great. Finished with total of 40 sessions - they said it was a record! Felt really lost after rehab twice a week for ages!

Mini Stroke /TIA just before this Easter. Only 30 minutes of “confusion” and talking rubbish then back to normal. Visit to A&E - bloods, ecg and CT scan - all good and sent home awaiting referral to stroke clinic the next week. Saw Consultant and said had blood clot on brain which has dispersed. Changed meds from clopidogrel to Apixaban - still on everything else.

So exactly a year since HA I’m still here - albeit quite emotional

Thank you to all at NHS for keeping me “above ground and breathing” xx

Hi, the NHS is amazing and there are many many of us here who owe are lives to the very clever medical teams that worked on us. You certainly have been through the mill, hope you continue to make a good recovery.

Stay safe best wishes Pauline
