Hi Charles
While we're all supposed to adopt Social Distancing, if you need to get to the shops for food and don't drive, but a friend can give you a lift, no one is going to criticise your actions. Hope you can get what you need.

That is the wrong advice to Tamlin55. The friend can do the shopping on his/her own but everybody is instructed to keep at least 2 meters away from people (friend or not friend, unless they live in the same house) which is impossible to do if they are together in the car!
That’s a good direct answer, athi9110.
We are trying to beat this thing together, so it’s not about being criticised, it about doing the right thing.
You're right, so sorry - I was more fixated on the notion of how to get to the shop rather than how to get some shopping.
Would it not be 2 m if the passenger sat in the back ?? or would it be the confined space of the Car that would be the danger point !!!
Don't get me wrong I need the NHS as much as anyone I am just making an Observation.

Good point - large Mercedes- maybe 2m, Fiat500 - probably not 2m., but probably confined space There must be a number of people at risk who don't drive and can't get home delivery who may well be travelling to the shops via bus - almost impossible to distance 2m in a bus
