Concerned How Corona will Change our Country

Just listening on the TV someone complaining they have to go to work, I must admit it didn't look like essential work !!! But it was the way the complaint was framed made me a little concerned.

I think one of the major changes after this will be the demise of Zero Hour Contracts if you want to work with benefits it's 35 hours a week. A lot of people will become unemployed. People will have to learn to Cook Food, companies like Deliveroo will disappear !!! A positive from all this We may become long term a Healthier Population.

Just listening about false comparisons between countries and death rates. The person asking the question seemed to want to show as a country we are doing something wrong rather than a genuine reason as to why.

I think there may be vacancies in the NHS Procurement Process after this. I know if I was a Gov Minster keeping having to stand up and try to explain why we don't have this or that I would be calling in the Procurement People to answer.

Victor Meldrew moment over Just I really hate my Country being told it's Poor at handling these situtions.

Stay Safe and Stay Well

I know this looks Political but soon I think the Mental Health of our Nation will become an awful lot worse than it was before this started !!

It’s very hard when all most people have to do is sit in and watch the updates, plus it’s on tv all the time. If people are scared about their health and being put at risk I think we should be asking why they are at work. I mean I have seen so many people on social media doing decorating and crafts etc cos they have ordered online - which means someone has to sort that order take it to the depot and posty has to deliver it. More people at risk. I would say the supermarkets are doing their utmost to protect the workers, now.

But I would say a lot of people are just annoyed that they haven’t been sent home on 80% pay like their mates have. Not thinking the bigger picture is that your company might not have any work for you to go back to after this.

There has also been a lot of things said about the ventilators. They asked me Dyson to design and build 10,000 and then the country’s largest current manufacturer asked why they had only been asked to make 350?

And then theirs the question of if they can pay most of the population their wages out of Gov funds why don’t they use that money for schools/nhs/homeless? Well because they HAVE to. We can’t all starve can we!

That’s my Victor moment over 🙈 I now have to sit and try and work out how to pay our staff their weekly wages when the Gov is only paying it back monthly after the fact 🤷🏻‍♀️

I agree with your comment about the mental health issues.

A friend rang me last night, I thought the call might have been to see how I was coping, being as I live on my own and like everyone on here have health conditions which leave us vulnerable to covid-19, but instead he was complaining that he was really fed up after been stuck in the house for a week with nowhere to go, and didn't know how long he could cope with this. I ended up trying to reassure him that it won't last forever, and once the gov relaxes the rules he'll be able to go out again, and then pointed out that when that relaxation comes into being (June?) I'll still probably be expected to carry on much as now, in fact I'm factoring in the idea that I could well be still tucked up at home at the end of October, not something I'm looking forward to, but if that's what it takes!

I really didn't see him as someone who goes to bits in a crisis, but suppose these are strange times and this situation is something none of us have ever faced. It's a bit worrying if people are starting to crack up after 7 days!

Agree

A lot of people won't be able to cope, tricky situation all round.

I heard on the News quite a lot of people in Italy are staring to move around when asked why they just said they had No Money, wonder how far we are from that situation.

Wasn't that the point the PM was trying to make, that if you start lockdown too soon people will get restless? Didn't yesterdays briefing say this situation could go on for some time and it may be that they'll lift restrictions, then perhaps reapply them and that could happen a few times?

It would be incredibly stupid of people in Italy to start moving around when you think of the infection rate and fatality figures we're hearing about from there.
