Need some guidance on my rare genetic heart condition (apical hypertrophic cardiomyopathy). More test required, however with Covid-19 a priority don’t know where I stand. I also have RA and take immune suppressant drugs and methotrexate, I take it I’m amongst the vulnerable group criteria but have had no contact from my employer (off work understandably) or my rheumatology clinic therefore in the dark. Heard governments advice and Scotland’s first minister today, other than staying in for the next 12 weeks what about my bloods being taken, already had my heart monitor fitting appointment cancelled, again totally understandable under the circumstances.

The prime minister news brief explained that anyone on the strict isolation list would still be able to attend clinic appointments, that special arrangements would be made and you will receive further information.
I was diagnosed with apical HCM in January which has caused AF but I have no other problems so haven’t been self isolating. No idea if this is correct or not. As it’s genetic just wondered if you have children and if so whether they’ve been tested.
I don’t have children but I had to contact my two sisters to advise them to have some tests done. My third sister passed away some years ago at 34 of SADS and we were not advised then that this was genetic and we never got tested. I’m hopeful that whatever my treatment and advice from the cardiologist will be positive.
