Hi. Like everyone else I am worried about the coronavirus situation. I had a heart attack and have asthma. According to the Bhf I am at a particularly high risk of developing serious complications because of the two conditions. However, according to the latest info I don't need to be shielded. Last week my GP told me to self isolate fo 12 weeks. Is everyone else just as confused?

Hello JP67
Here's the advice from the NHS
Social Distancing
gov.uk/government/publicati...
Self-isolating for 12 weeks with serious health conditions – see the section headed – If you are at high risk
nhs.uk/conditions/coronavir...
The final bullet -have another serious health condition is at the moment a bit vague, the best advice is to wait for the next week, until 30th March to see if you receive a letter telling you that you are in this category, do not contact your GP in the meantime to see if you're in this category as this will swamp the surgeries
Agree with you SotF! I am sure I am at high risk but it is not clear from the latest information. One just has to be extra careful...
Hi Spirit,
Great info thanks. Think I'll just have another week of chilling at home and see what happens. Stay well.
You are at risk, so please be vigilant and take extra care.
The group of patients being shielded are not only at high risk but the medications that they are taking could increase that risk even more. For this reason they are being shielded because they need their medications and most of them will be severely immunocompromised, meaning that the slightest germ could be life threatening to them.
Good advice for all. Hope everyone is keeping safe and staying well.
