Hello and welcome to the forum! At the moment the link to more severe complications from Coronavirus for those taking ACE inhibitors and ARBs is a hypothesis. In the current situation I doubt there are enough GPs/cardiologists to supervise a changeover and drugs in the supply chain to switch people over. But if there is genuine proven evidence I imagine they will try. Stopping BP medication is it an option for the majority.

I to take candesartan , read a post on the forum which made me just think it read, I do need candesartan for my heart I haven’t got the virus, so until they find out for sure it’s making me more vulnerable I will take care of my heart.

Stay safe

well i've tried Ramipril & Entresto - both absolutely cricified me with the most severe cough going, so if they're goignt o stop that medication they had better have something ready to replace it or a theatre ready for the emergency AVR!

Like you I was on Ramipril had the most awful cough put me on candesartan haven’t had a problem so like you hope they have another alternative, don’t need another AVR not yet anyway!

i'll be happy with a first AVR - you can keep a second one. Would hope to never need a second one. TBH, still hoping Dustin Hoffman is gonna turn up to fix it all ;-)

You waiting for AVR? If you are sorry didn’t mean to sound flippant, I know the waiting is awful.

Stay safe Pauline

Not being flippant at all - givent the current situation, I'm not expecitng to underog an AVT unless I am admitted to A&E again and my AV has dilated beyond 6cm.

It's good to hear people are still getting their AVR's - cos it means there's hope for me ;-)

in reply to

AVR, that should be - no idea what an AVT is, though i used to ATV as a kid

Really hope you get it done, mine was quite a while ago nearly 4 years, have been fine since. So very grateful for all the people who got me here. It’s like having a second chance. So with my fingers crossed hope you don’t have to much longer to wait.
