Just a quick one, so I had a hospitalisation for severe sepsis last year in March, at this time I had undiagnosed high blood pressure. In October last had a heart attack and four stents places in heart.. Can I ask am I in the high risk group, should I worry??

Yes, most definitely. You are being treated for both hypertension and cardiovascular disease. There is also a slight chance of some underlying organ damage from the sepsis.

Thanks Michael, I have been told there is no damage to my heart and no disease either , yet I do appreciate that there maybe other organ damage that I did not consider.. take care your self

Sepsis is incredibly nasty! It killed one of my best friends, hospitalised another friend for weeks and resulted in another friend's friend becoming a multiple amputee. I am glad you have no apparent after effects.

I would suggest you are in a higher risk group, for the very reasons you have stated.

Hi. Thought I'd just chime in with commiserations about the sepsis. I was struck by it out of the blue a couple of years ago and not expected to survive -- but did, if a bit battered, to docs' amazement. I'm certainly treating myself as vulnerable and jolly well feel it at the moment since what I understand hits the unlucky ones with this virus is pretty similar to sepsis and very unpleasant memories are resurfacing. Yes. Take all care. Let's not go through that again.

So after today, I’m still unclear if I’m in the at risk group.. I do not have heart disease, my heart, I’m told did not suffer any damage when I had the heart attack.. Sepsis was a year ago.. How are you feeling about at risk groups..

Hi Heartintact50

The BHF have updated their information

bhf.org.uk/informationsuppo...

I am according to the BHF list in the particularly high risk group but not the extremely high risk group

My husband is in the high risk group.

We are living through uncertain times. My family have basically made me self isolate.

Perhaps check with your employers about your pay as they have sent you home from work.

Stay safe and well

Thank you, I’m sure I’ll be ok with my wages.. My wife is also in the high risk group, she has severe asthma, steroid dependant along with lots of other ailments.. I think my burning question at the back of my mind, is something that was said to me after my heart attack, that sepsis stays within your body for a considerable time after you’ve had it and this is probably a factor in the heart attack along with the undiagnosed high blood pressure.. So does this leave me with a weakened immune system and open to a chance of higher risk from Coronavirus and I should be isolating for 12 weeks.. sorry for my rambling
