Tinnitus
Hi there, I developed tinnitus in my right ear while waiting for my aortic valve replacement. I had hoped that the tinnitus was linked to my valve problems. However after the operation the tinnitus remained. I had a very successful valve replacement, and I am currently awaiting tests for the tinnitus. All I will say is that after my op, my tinnitus increased greatly while I was on beta blockers (in my case 1.25mg of Bisoprolol). Since stopping the beta blocker (on the advice of my GP), my tinnitus has greatly reduced.
Yep, i have been on Amlodipine for HBP for a while, was originally on 5 mg and things seemed ok,although I’ve always suffered a little from tinnitus. when my dose got increased to 10mg my tinnitus got much worse, especially in the evenings, and also my ankles started swelling. When I saw my GP she said Amlodipine at 10 mg can indeed cause such problems. I got the Amlodipine reduced to 5 mg (along with another drug, Losartan, to help with the HBP ) and everything went back to normal. I still get a bit of tinnitus but in no way is it as bad as when I was taking the 10 mg Amlodipine!
Many thanks for your reply I was on 5mg then increased to 10mg. I have a review in a few weeks with the doctor to discuss the same problems swollen ankles etc. The tinnitus at night is the problem for me, I have a machine to make white noise which helps a little with the tinnitus. Face flushing is also a problem. All will be discussed for certain. Many thanks again for your reply. Best wishes.
