Valve Surgery Delayed again

So after finding out last August I needed heart valve surgery, surgeon agreed then to delay it till January as I felt well and no sypmtoms. I had pre op tests in December and all OK waiting on January date. But seems to be more priorities pushing my date back again. Now saying mid March but can't confirm as must be a congenital heart surgeon. My dilemma is my sons 21st in April and bridesmaid at a wedding in July. I would be devastated to miss these things that are so important to me. But obviously my health comes first. I'd hoped to be on road to recovery by now. Still feel well and no symptoms. Family think I'm looking for excuses to delay it, but I feel torn and maybe still a bit in denial...

Hi Lyndaloo. The good news is the docs clearly don't think you need anything done urgently. I know all about denial - I had a silent heart attack 2 years ago, and the only pain and discomfort I've felt has been from various procedures in hospital, and side effects from drugs.

It's easy for me to say, but I'd be inclined to tell you not to put your life on hold. Keep preparing for the birthday and wedding, and if the hospital do finally give you a date, then make adjustments to your plans at that point.

Thank you for the advice. I'm a stubborn bugger at times but know my health comes first. I've actually just had letter in the post today to go for pre op tests again this week so date could be imminent. Already had all that done in December but the results expire this week. Most frustrating as the hospital is at least hour and a half away....
