The quickest and easiest way is to see a cardiologist privately. It will cost about £150 - £200 and his recomendations will be sent back to your GP and follow up can be on the NHS.

You often dont need a GP referral if you are a cash paying patient.

You may also have to pay for an ecg or scan .

Hello, BP is 160/82 average for a year plus. GP only tablets which create side affects. How do I push for a specialist

Hi Sprinterknot

Here are the NICE guidelines regarding Blood pressure treatment

nice.org.uk/guidance/ng136

Have you had your BP monitored over a couple of days as you BP can vary during the day.

A specialist may well offer treatment through medication too.

Many heart drugs do cause side effects most wear off with time.

The BHF has this information about how you can help manage your blood pressure

Thanks Milkfairy, GP surgery here is a pain to book. I have BP but no real help to wiggle through the range, ten minutes appointment. Just would like a look at which would be good for me. Internet is good.
