Another drug?! What does this one do then?

I’ve a letter which was delivered yesterday about my fluid retention due to my heart & kidney problems. It’s evidenced by a slight oedema in my lower right leg.

I’ve researched water tablets & challenged my heart failure nurse but they’ve now written to my GP about Frusemide. I checked with credible meds & found this (enclosed). Should I go back to my hospital & show them this?

Frusemide is a commonly used diuretic in case of fluid retention used for heart failure.. given your description, it would make sense for you to be prescribed this. Take care.

Thanks barniecroft , yet why would Credible Meds then suggest to avoid it?

I’ve had 3 cardiac events in 2019 & the second one was TdP before the shock. Long QT was commented on the first.

It says to avoid if possible. I would think it's a question for your medical team, so they can advise why they feel this med is beneficial to you.

Besides barniecroft , just because it’s commonly used doesn’t make it universally right for others does it?

Hi Ben

Have you had a look at the British National Formulary? ( BNF)

If you have any concerns or queries then I suggest you discuss it with the Healthcare professional who has prescribed the frusimide.

We all can respond differently to medications . However research has shown that when a set bundle of medications are prescribed to heart failure patients that their outcome is improved.

Do you have a good relationship with your HF nurse?

Perhaps make an appointment and discuss this with them?

Yeah Milkfairy , my HF nurse & I are on great terms. I originally called him ‘Honey’ when I first met him in the reception area & we went from there!

Read the Patient Information Leaflet (PIL) this will clearly state what the medication is for, how and when to take it and possible side effects.

As with all medication if you are not happy talk to a medical specialist.

DO NOT rely on information from a Googlr search, there is some good info but also a lot of rubbish.

Just be careful and ask if you don't know something. The more you ask, the better. For safety, you could do some self-contained testing at home. All are safe and from genuine companies. Click here and find out more confirmbiosciences.com/covi.... You can find a wide variety of samples, so the choice becomes wider. Also, I think it's a question for your medical team to advise why they feel this med is beneficial to you.
