What does cardiac pain feel like to you?

since my heart attack, I’ve always been super conscious of any slight twinge in the left hand side of my chest.

is it heartburn, muscular or is it cardiac? Seems pretty minor really and fleeting. BP and heart rate are fine.

is anyone else super conscious of their chest twinges and pains?

How do we know if it something more?

I’m the opposite 🤦🏼.. I don’t have any concerns , I just know the that the trauma from my quadruple bypass surgery post Nstemi caused a lot of nerve and muscle damage , even pains into my left shoulder causing internal rotation deficit. Not used GTN spray at all , still unopened 8 months post surgery . Pushed myself in rehab , found it too easy , managed 5& 10k running goals . I get more pain in my left leg scar around my ankle and left shoulder more than anywhere now 🤦🏼.

That’s great news. I’m pushing myself a bit in the gym but nowhere near 5ks. Really impressive work there

I was fit and strong prior to my Nstemi, lifetime of sport , started weight training aged 56 . My surgeon says he could tell I kept myself fit as there was a lot of very strong sternum and chest muscle for him to cut through 🤢🤣… He added that it might take me longer to recover from all the nerve damage 🤦🏼.. I was back riding my motorbike 3 months post surgery 👍🏻 🤣. Our journeys are all different, I had residual strength and my body healed really quite quickly. I’m sure my nutrition helped too, I was eating lean protein , nuts , skimmed milk , olive oil , homemade breads. Rehab is definitely not linear though. Statins gave me some set backs for a month . 8 months post surgery and I’m very pleased though, trying a 3rd statin now .

Yes I have the same concerns as when I had my heart attack 18 months ago and 1 stent fitted I kept telling the ambulance crew it was severe indigestion and I still cannot tell the difference.

Thanks. Yeah I get pangs in the left hand side of my chest but don’t seem that severe and are short lived. Hopefully they aren’t cardiac and to be honest, they probably aren’t.

I get lots of left sided chest pain, it all started after I developed pericarditis after complications a few days after my pacemaker procedure. I find it difficult to not worry with chest pain but I e been to A&E with chest pain a few times both before and after having a pacemaker , I’ve had tests that have mainly come back all ok . Overtime it has got easier to cope and I try not to panic too much . It can be difficult not knowing whether the pain I feel is cardiac or not, I also have costochondritis which can also feel cardiac in nature . I’m waiting to start cardiac rehab once I’ve had an assessment .

You bet! Any time I have any sensation in my chest area I'm like 'Whats that!?'I know which foods set off indigestion and I find a nice chest rub stops most sensations. Its when there is a combo of tingling, chest ache and nausea that I worry and haven't hesitated seeking A&E in the past.

After heart surgery it's like inhabiting a body you dont really know and never really trust.

That's my experience anyway.
