Hello

I've been taking both for 2years and was informed they may be for life/long term.

Ok then.Thank you for your replay.

Over 3 years post heart attack and still on Bisoprolol amongst others and will be for life.

Were you told that only 3 weeks of these meds would be required. I can't comment on spiro but I personally don't know of anyone post HA who has come off Biso or similar.

I was told bisopralol for 12 months at least but couldn't tolerate them at all , had terrible hallucinations and was taken off them after 6 months. Not heard of the other tablet.

My husband has been on a low dose for 17 months now following diagnosis of AF and cardiomyopathy. Has caused no issues at all and we are expecting it to be a permanent medication for him.

I am on Bisoprolol for AF, I have been told I am on for the rest of my life. I am on 7.5 but having shortness of breath and painful joints. My cardiologist says I can drop the down but have to do it very slowly, so she dropped me down to 6.25mg I went into AF after 8 hours . I have an appointment to see her again I March so have gone back up to my original dose I would advise you to stay on your medication until you see you consultant.

My mum has been on Bisoprolol for the last 14 years after her HA. Spiralactone is a water tablet that needs monitoring due to the kidneys drying up..

I am on both (plus others) I did ask about reducing my tablets and the Dr said that its important to stay on spironalactone (which is much gentler than other diuretics) as it gets rid of excess fluid, excess fluid puts more pressure on your heart, so it does make sense.

Bisoprilil, I used to be on 10mg but now on 5mg and have more energy but its to help with heart and blood pressure so I cant see it being stopped tbh .

Hope your partner is steadily recovering
