What happens after angiogram
Post angiogram: What happens after... - British Heart Fou...
Post angiogram
I'm waiting for ct scan. Next week I have pre op. But arteries are good.
Very similar to thatwasunexpected post. After stent procedure, back to work in a week, driving after 2 weeks. Key focus was on ensuring the femoral artery was ok (they used that for access). Cardio rehab sessions are excellent as you get to mix with fellow hearties, have the comfort of support from nhs staff, and also get a more holistic view around healthy eating, exercise etc
Signed my indemnity document and was wheeled in. Kind of surreal being conscious during the procedure, but think I eventually just naturally dozed off for a few seconds. Came to and they were done. Most amazing thing was seeing the pre and post stent pictures: left coronary went from 99% blocked to completely open again.
After that I was taken to the recovery ward, where I stayed until the next morning (I had 4xMI, so they wanted to make sure I was still ok). Had lunch and then went home.
Much depends on what they find! I assume this is an elective procedure.
Very occasionally someone will be kept in hospital until they can be given stents or have a bypass.
Other times stents may be inserted at the time. Occasionally a further session may be required.
Or as in my case you have something to eat and go home a few hours later. This means it is an all clear, or coming back for further tests (e. g. CT scan, echocardiogram, etc.) and/or stents/bypass. I had the aforementioned tests and then a quadruple bypass.
Have you got an appointment?
As others have said it depends on what they find. In my case, the angiogram showed i had three blockages so just over a week later I had a triple bypass. That was last October and thankfully I am recovering well. Wishing you all the best.
