Mitral regurgitation diagnoses

Hello everyone,

Hope you are all having a good start to the year. Just a little update on my situation.. I have recently had an echocardiogram since having symptoms of bounding palpitations, fatigue and dizziness. The echo showed some mild regurgitation and my cardiologist didn’t seem too bothered.

With my palpitations they get heavy as the day goes on where my pulse will be very visible within my neck. I have to plan my day out and try to rest as much as possible but this does prove to be a bit of a struggle with such a busy lifestyle at uni that often require late nights and sleep deprivation!

Is there anyone else out there with mild mitral regurgitation that suffers with symptoms? If so have you been prescribed any medication for this? Last time my heart rate was tested it was 98bpm and with quite high blood pressure. Not sure if this was to do with rushing round the hospital prior the test though.

I am just feeling a little at despair at the moment and would love to hear if anyone has had any similar experience/ advice.

Many thanks for reading x

Hi Del, I wouldn't be concerned about the regurgitation if the cardiologist isn't worried. You sound quite anxious and you say you have a hectic lifestyle.I think your body is telling you to slow down a bit and get some rest. What do you do to relax?I know the uni lifestyle can be intense but you may need to carve out some time to de- stress. That will be good for your heart and blood pressure. Also make sure you eat a healthy diet. The bhf website has lots of good diet ideas.I hope you feel better soon.

Hi, just wanted to advise that on one of my Scan it show mild regurgitation and I have palpitations as well on and off. Which Cardiologist/GP are not at all concerned about. Hope this helps...
