just back from Cardiologist.. surprisingly had an ecg before i saw him... really nice man.. result of appointment?... angiogram to be carried out.. i was admitted 2 months ago overnight and seems something showed up

on ecg at that time.. repeat ecg today also wasn’t normal.. inverted and inferior something or other.. Cardiologist said these results usually infer a HA has occurred in the recent past.. he also mentioned that a heart scan carried out a couple of years ago wasn’t clear..said hopefully angiogram should show any damage to heart muscle plus if any blockage.. i currently suffer from

MVA .. also increased Isorobide to 100mg

Hi... Was it T-wave? This can indicate a number of conditions. I had an ECG before my first appointment at the Urgent Chest Pain Clinic. Angiogram is easy so relax and do not worry about it. I had four significant blockages which eventually lead to a quadruple bypass. Fingers crossed you will be free of blockages.

Hi Manhattan1

I am glad your appointment went well and the Cardiologist is taking your symptoms and test results seriously.

I have frequently have T wave inversions and ST depressions on my ECG's due to my vasospasms causing a lack of blood supply to my heart muscle though my coronary arteries are clear.

Have you had an angiogram before?

had one in 2003.. which was clear.. my hubby had angioplasty in Sep with 2 stents.. he had CT scan before they decided on angiogram.. that’s why i’m a bit surprised Cardiologist has referred me for angiogram straight away

How do you feel?

The Golden Jubilee in Glasgow is one of the places actively researching into MVA and vasospastic angina.

Maybe the research results are filtering through finally.....

will more than likely be the Golden Jubilee.. i’ve been feeling pretty rough over the last year.. an effort to even climb upstairs and do normal housework .. have to sit down and take a breather.. also noticed pains in my calves now and again.. also seems to be a heaviness in my chest which is becoming the norm.. i don’t know if all this is related to the same thing

Does the pain in the calves come on when walking and subside with rest?

recently it’s happening at home.. couple of times especially in my right leg it’s a heaviness in the leg plus painful calf.. yesterday it was both calves

There is a condition called PAD (peripheral arterial disease) caused by narrowing of the arteries in the leg (the condition can also occur in the arms but is quite rare). This can be checked for via a Doppler test which is simple and non-invasive. Might be worth asking for?

Hi

I have PAD and it wasn’t diagnosed by the cardiologist but by a vascular surgeon.

Have a look at CirculationFoundation.org.uk. There’s a Claudication Risk Checker- it’s worth looking at.

Intermittent Claudication refers the fact that it hurts to walk or even at rest and then the pain subsides.

It is really serious and should not be ignored. As Michael says it’s an easy test and should be carried out.

Take care

I have all sorts of weird aches and pains too.

I really hope you do go to the Golden Jubilee as they are a centre of excellence for diagnosing MVA and Vasospastic angina.

Do say how you get on.

Cardiologist in FVRH Larbert diagnosed MVA 2 years ago.. same Cardiologist i saw today.. think he was really concerned with ecg results and advised of angiogram early in consultation.. impression i got that it would be relatively soon at Golden Jubilee

Good to hear.

It is important to check that you haven't developed any blockages as well as your MVA.

I hope your wait isn't too long.

It's good that they're taking your problems seriously, if only my local Cardiology dept would do the same with all of my heart problems, they just keep on saying that I can put up with them due to my age & see me again in 2 yrs time

Well, they're gonna have to take notice this time as yet another two things was found last yr by my surgery, but it took them 15 mnths to accept the last the surgery found! Also had two minor strokes last yr, all being 40

My ECG's have never been normal & I can only guess that theyvare taking this as the normal & not really thinking what all the problems are doing to me

sorry to hear that.. come up to Scotland and see my Cardiologist 👍

in reply toManhattan1

Be great if it was that simple, but have to go & see our local Cardiology dept & see what doctor we see on the day, I always hope that one day they'll sit up & take notice of all my problems & just not see a see a middle aged person in front of them

I acknowledge your frustration.

I have a great Cardiologist in London😊

in reply toMilkfairy

It seems like it's down in the South West that they ain't that good, the ones that knew me the best are slowly retiring & the new ones despite reading my medical notes have to get to know me, but don't listen

An angiogram is great to find blockages in the larger veins and arteries but a MRI scan will much more.

I had angiogram with no blockages but had to have MRI as well some 3 weeks ago.

Hospital phoned me yesterday for urgent appointment. Perhaps they found something odd. Hold thumbs for tomorrow.

It sounds from your cardiologist's remarks and your history that he wants to check the state of your main coronary arteries in case you need a stent.

I hope the angiogram happens soon.
