Hello
Those are good results I bet you feel happy with them I would have
Not sure how to get your notes changed other than ask the Secretary if they can pass the message on or ask if you could speak about this entry
But again I would be very happy with those results and pleased for you x
Hi thanks for your reply. My concern with my breathing is still a question mark as he has put down to smoking and I don’t smoke. So back to square 1.
I wonder because even when we have stopped smoking they can still say the damage was done just a thought
I would have a word with my Doctor as well see what they have to say
I do hope you get the answers you need and let us know if you have time when you do how you have got on x
Thank you . I will keep you updated fingers crossed
Hi Masters69,
A lot of letters generated within the NHS are generic and lack specific detail. Very few clinicians are adept at expressing the whole story and base their letters on stock phrases, so saying your breathlessness is down to smoking without specifying that the damage was possibly caused prior to you stopping 12 years ago may be the issue here.
My wife had an issue with pain in one breast and was warned by her GP that the letter from the consultant would most likely imply that she had cancer. This was indeed the case, but on investigation she was cleared and it was found that the pain was caused by another issue. Had she not been pre-warned, then a lot of upset would have been caused.
When I was being investigated as to the cause of me having a heart attack, I was amazed to read the detail in the letters that the pathologist sent to my GP. The pathologist was indeed a rare individual who had excellent administration and communication skills. Unfortunately the system failed somewhat as my GP did not extract the detail from her letters and I had to provide an explanation! I guess that we have to be pleased that clinicians are generally good at what they do medically and accept that their communication, both written and spoken, may leave a lot to be desired.
I hope you get clarification of your situation soon.
Gerald
Hi i gave up smoking over twenty years ago and did not get breathless untill eight years ago may i suggest you see your GP and ask to have test done for your breathlessness as this may be due to a condition not related to you heart at all
Are you on any medications? Some can create breathlessness. Also, are you on anything to keep your blood pressure well-controlled (120/80), which it should be since you have a dilated aortic root?
Hi cliff Sorry for late reply as I was in holiday. Yes I am on multiple medications for high blood pressure CAD blood thinners etc. I got call back from the cardiologist secretary before I went away stating someone will contact me early next month. What I find strange is when your gp refers you to the cardiologist on your consultation the cardiologist must have notes of all the investigations or ecg and echo results in front of him. Unfortunately he said he has no knowledge of my echo results which shows left vertical dysfunction.
Hello cliff hope you are well. I can finally update you with my anigiogram results. Yesterday I finally received the amended results they have admitted it was error regarding me being a heavy smoker. And they have finally traced my echo results from march and confirmed LVD.
