Hello... I am doubtful that the magnets would pull on your stents even of you pulled your knees to your chest. Stents are coated and nothing as sensative as pacemakers. I am fairly sure some people with stents have event had MRI scans. However, I always like to point out that I am not medically qualified so suggest you also give the BHF nurses a call on Monday.

There is absolutely no reason to feel an idiot. Everybody buys something at sometime in their life and wonders if it was a good decision.

Yes I've 1 stent and have had an MRI scan. Was concerned and asked when appointment made if it was OK, asked again on the day - both times confirmed that OK, and no adverse effect after MRI

I never gave it a thought having an MRI with stents, just thinking about the wires they use to pull your ribcage together no one asked about them either !!!

I had an mri scan recently and have 2 stents, one very long. The mri machine is made to use a specific magnetic strength; the one I went to was 1.5 tesla, but apparently they would not have been able to use a 7 tesla machine. That's how I understood what I was told.

The 1.5 tesla figure is about 30,000 times the strength of the earth's magnetic field where we live (but it varies and depends on many things).

I hope you do not mind me asking but did you buy them basically for support or the magnets to address pain/arthritis?

Hi Michael , l worked on roofing for 40 years which meant oon my knees a lot and plenty of ladder work which now means worn out knees , l wear supports as it gives some relief and thought l would give magnets a try .

Hi Anberbux. As Michael says your knee support magnets are highly unlikely to affect your stents as the modern ones aren’t magnetic. But do check and let us know what advice you get.

Hi Steve you mention in your post modern stents mine are 10 years old does that still apply ? 😀

Hi. The last 7/10 years I believe. The benefit of having a stent that’s 10 years old is that it will be well and truly embedded in your artery. I know that most modern stents are OK with an MRI - and that’s just about the acid test in terms of magnetism. Yours might be one of the older ones so if you’re worried then do check.

With both knees also clamped to the car as magnets in scrap yards are less powerful!

My wife thinks that's a good idea.
