Hi I am new to this forum.

I notice that there is a lot of discussion about :ABLATION", but what exactly does the term mean?

Catheter ablation is a procedure that uses radiofrequency energy (similar to microwave heat) to destroy a small area of heart tissue that is causing rapid and irregular heartbeats. Destroying this tissue helps restore your heart's regular rhythm. The procedure is also called radiofrequency ablation.

As per Stumpy’s reply. Also worth noting that whether or not you’re offered ablation depends on the frequency and severity of your arrhythmia (irregular heart beat), and is obviously dependent on the cause being responsive to ablation in the first place. I have SVT, which can be cured or improved via ablation, but even though I would have jumped at the chance of having it done a few years ago, it was not something ever offered to me on the grounds that my symptoms weren’t considered severe enough or frequent enough. I rather strongly disagreed with that assessment as the one living with it, but was lucky enough to actually achieve decent control of my arrhythmia via embracing suggested dietary and lifestyle changes on top of medication.
