Medication woes !

Hoping for some advice. Had a HA 6weeks ago and a stent fitted. Been given medication to help- cardiiplan, ramipril, aspirin, Ticagrelor, monomil, atrovastin, and Bisoprolol as well as tablets for my tummy -

Been having what I can only describe as wind related issues as well as a general feeling of being ot right. Have aches and pains in my shoulders. Saw a cardiologist yesterday who said that he doesn’t think it’s heart related as ECG, blood pressure etc are good and as he said my echo was very unremarkable!! But seemed to dismiss the pain I was still in - offered no help at all- just don’t know what to do next or where to turn as I still feel pants. Has anyone else felt like this ? I’m convinced it’s the medication but when I mentioned it I was told by the cardiologist that it was very unlikely

The stent settling in can gives twinges. But, you know you so you know to get on the 9s if you feel it’s something more. My doc calls it ‘having a low index of suspicion’.

Sorry to hear about your woes, it is scary, especially in the early days, I had a few aches and pains after my stents, but the wind reared it's ugly head with me a few months later. The fear of it being your heart makes everything feel 10 times worse, so I kept telling myself I was okay and 6 months in am still doing so, every once in a while. It is a roller coaster, so get yourself some rehab if you can and talk to thers there. Friends and family are also important.

If you are worried call 111, if you don't fancy 999, I did a couple of times are they were great.

Good luck.

Thank you all for your advice certainly something to bear in mind. Just hope in time it settles it was the way Dr just dismissed the fact it could be medication!

Hoping to speak to my cardiac nurse Monday but if I need I will of course seek help

Thanks again just helps to know I’m not going crazy x

Doctors don't take the cocktail of meds you are taking.

I had aches and pains in my shoulders for weeks after the stent and was also convinced it was ongoing heart. It wasn’t! Take a paracetamol if really bad and one day it will be gone. The drug regime takes time to settle in and for your body to adapt. It might need changing since we are all different. Always worth phoning the BHF nurse for a chat if you’re anxious about how you’re feeling. It took me a few months to get sorted and now I’m really well and back at the gym. As to the flatulence that us a symptom of gastritis probably caused by the medication making your gut produce too much acid. A tweak of your meds might help otherwise review your diet and eating patterns. This is an area where the NHS web site might help. Good luck.

Hi sasquuot1

I think what you're going through is quite normal in the early days after an event.

I had a heart attack and a cardiac arrest, so ended up in agony with the brusing/damage to my ribs after CPR for about 2 months

I went from taking no medication to taking 13 pills a day, and in the first few months these meds left me feeling out of sorts, couldn't sleep, waking up in the middle of the night and unable to get back to sleep, so feeling knackered the next day. Bouts of constipation, followed by bouts diarrhoea and wind. I really didn't feel myself. But having had my HA at the end of December 2018 by early March 2019 all these symptoms, one by one went away.

Don't worry, you're definitely not going crazy. I think most of us have felt like this in the early days

Hi sasquot 1 , I have been having Heart problems for months, chest pains, back pains, high blood pressure , doctors prescribed about 6 different meds that only made me feel worse, I went out and bought korean Ginseng Tea, and bottles of Beetroot juice, also some Green Tea, and a large bottle of olive oil from which I take four teaspoonfuls daily, within a week my blood pressure had dropped to almost normal, ? Does no harm to ask mother nature for help, good luck regards Jeff Taylor
