My Angina medication update

Hi all, just an update. I've had a few episodes and had to go into hospital with chest pain. Spoke to my cardiologist and he said that he made an error 😮 and should have not been Amlodipine together with Diltiazem as they are the same type of medication. So they've stopped my Amlodipine. My swelling has gone, but I still get chest pain occasionally while resting. I also have narrowing of the smaller arteries due to the build up of plaque. Should they of reduced the Amlodipine instead of stopping it all together. Looking for some advice if anyone in the same boat, but I will go and see my GP aswell.

in advance of your GP visit - cos we really can’t advise on medication and doses - try and speak to the pharmacist attached to your doctor’s group of surgeries. Probably details of them and the best way to contact is on your practice leaflet online, Failing that phone the receptionist The pharmacist can look at your records and suggest to the doctor the best way forward.

Probably best ro take advice from the professionals. All our experiences are different and so what one person does here may not be helpful for you. We can give you our e periwnces but not advice. Good luck

As the doctors said both medications work in the same way, so stopping one of them is what to do. Meanwhile your chest pains, similar to what I had, short stay in hospital and came hoe with new some meds, I was also diagnosed with AF, hence Bisoprolol given to start with,

My chest pains are betterr controlled by taking lanzoparole at night.

Thanks Jedi14. I did read up about the medication, but some people still use both medications that's why I got confussed. I understand that everyone is different with their conditions and meds. I still will try and ask my GP or Pharmacist.

I take Lansoprazole in the morning because of my dispersible Aspirin and told but the doctor. I did try it at night but it didn’t make much difference. Thanks anyway. Hope your doing well.😊
