Heart palpitations and out of breath

Hi,

Whilst climbing 6 short flights of stairs in an office building I became extremely out of breath and my heart began pounding through my chest and back. Mild ache probably due to my heart pounding. By the time I got to the top I felt sick and dizzy, I was with my colleague who was out of breath but she said I looked pale. Just recently had a heart scan and it was ok.

Does anyone else get this

History bicuspid and mild enlargement, also hashimotos underactive thyroid.

Thanks

Alisba

Is climbing so many stairs something you would usually do? If not then maybe that's the answer. However, you should at least have a telephone conversation with your GP/Cardiologist to discuss it.

Sounds like angina to me. Mention it to your GP /specialist just to be on the safe side

Think you would need a stress echo Alisbabas to double check everything.

Yes I get those symptoms. I was diagnosed with a myocardial bridge. Keep insisting on tests until they tell you what's wrong. Best of luck

There is not necessarily anything wrong with you - except maybe that you are extremely unfit in the cardiovascular Department . Of course, you could have something physically wrong with you - but an experience like you have quoted is not uncommon for someone who is VERY unfit. There are many people who basically never get their heart rates elevated much over the "sitting on the couch" level and when they do exert themselves , feel like fainting and their hearts feel to be leaping out of their chests :)

If you climb those stairs regularly and these symptoms are new contact your GP. Womens heart problems manifest differently than mens. Good luck

This was the start of my problems on third flight breathless had to pulled along by hubby resting in between flights

Had multi modular thyroid for over 32 years blood tests always found within limits

Last March heart attack left artery 70% blocked, thyroid became over active re angioplasty and stent fit

Also now found to have osteoporosis

I should say my diet and lifestyle apart from stress self employed family business have been good

But both the blockage. Of the artery and osteoporosis can be caused through the thyroid

6 months post heart attack big improvements but still working on thyroid now become under active

Hope this helps

Hind sight can be helpful sometimes 😊👍
