Palpatation...
I have what I call sensation of racing heart beat especially at night. No known cause other than 'anxiety'! That can have affected your palpitations. Hope you get to see a cardiologist anyway soon. Best of luck.
I recently had severe fluttering ( palpitations) that would go on for 90 minutes at a time, many times a day; Had a 24 hour monitor to find out which part of the heart they were coming from which showed them very clearly. I was told they wer e nothing to worry about ( HA! they should try living with it). Thankfully over the past month it has settled down and I'm certain it was caused by some BP tablets my GP Put me on although he won't agree. Strange that the palpitations stopped after he stopped the BP tablets! However I have had harmless palpitations for over 20 years. Anxiety always made them worse.
Hi I get palpitations too and have been told mine are due to the Vagus nerve, what causes yours for 20 years
I'm not sure yet I'm under investigation...im just really worried...is your QT prolonged at all too? Cuz mine is...xx
It can be prolonged, more recently it`s been longer, 8 hours and 12 hours the last time but I`m told mine is if I eat too quickly or get too hungry which upsets this vagus nerve, it gets out of bonk and causes the palpitations. It stops as quickly as it starts. I am on Metoprolol and a blood thinner called Apixaban. I`m waiting to see a Cardiologist but there`s an 18 week waiting list, been about 10 weeks so far. I was told by my Doctor that there`s nothing they can do about this nerve and to take an extra beta blocker
My doctor mentioned about the beta blockers but said that this isn't a good idea with having a prolonged qt... How many palpatations a day would you say you had.. sometimes I can have several in a row... wow 18weeks is a long time.. I have been waiting 2 weeks for my referal as of yet just feels like forever...i feel so anxious..i had a couple of days a few weeks ago with no palpatations and I honestly thought of great it's just passed over but then they started again even worse.. xx
No, I don`t get them like that, I can go weeks without having any and then I might eat something too quickly or get stressed and they come on, I did go a year once without having any. They only came on 3 years ago so not had them all my life, I`m 67. Been carted off to Hospital twice but by the time I got there they`d stopped, they did a couple of blood tests which showed nothing and kicked me out. I`ve had a stress test and a ultrasound but nothing to see on those either. Think I`ve only been referred because we got a trainee GP for 6 months and she referred everybody for everything, my Husband got referred for 4 different things, she did nothing. My previous GP who diagnosed my problem in the first place wasn`t worried at all so I never bothered either and she`d trained as a Heart expert. Are you on any blood thinners for your palpitations to prevent a stroke?
So maybe yours are only triggered due to stress and certain foods then..but mine are every day i have over 250 in 24hours on a montior i had.. No I've not been given any tablets yet or anything..they just don't seem to concerned but it's affecting me and my life and my work.. I'm 24 a young mum with 3 toddlers..heart problems run in my family.. what medication are you on for it xx and did u get admitted as the palpatation wouldn't stop?
No didn`t get admitted, palpitations stopped and they said I was on the right medication so they sent me home. I`m on 100mg of Metoprolol (Beta Blocker), 10mg of Apixaban (Blood thinner) and 20mg of Atorvastatin but it`s the Beta blocker and the blood thinner that are to do with the palpitations although the Beta blocker was prescribed for my BP, the palpitations came afterwards.
Years ago I was given a stress test too to try to identify mine. Absolutely nothing but luckily they left the leads attached to me while I sat down to recover and lo and behold bump thump. I do sometimes get a long interval between the missed beat and the double beat and everything starts to go black.
Hi my ecg,s come up with prolonged qt on them but you need to read the actual number on the ecg ? I also get bad palpitations and I’m only 30 it’s just horrid
Are you under the hospital...and how are you getting on with your life I just feel like everything is on hold till I'm sorted xx I've had really bad palpatations in the night it was horrid
Try not to worry 😀 (yeh right) I've been having palpatations for past 3 months, average 5-6 per minute, 24/7 but can get as high as 16! It's the lack of communication that is the issue for most people. I was seen by my cardiologist very quickly initially, but was then left with "we'll send you for numerous test, and see you again in 3 months is that a plan?" Don't be worried, you are going to get sorted.
