Anybody else experiencing this

I have Atrial Tachycardia being controlled with Bisoprolol. I am still getting rocking/swaying sensation feelings of my heart pounding when sitting down and lying down which my GP says is nothing to do with my heart. He does not want to help at all. I am at a loss what to do. My blood pressure is ok to. Anybody else experiencing these kind of symptoms. I must have something else going on like a tumour. I am at a loss.

A year ago I presented at A&E with chest pains and was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation -I already knew from surgery checkups that I had irregular heartbeats

I had been experiencing SVT (Supra VentricularTachycardia) episodes of rapid heart beats for some years without realising what it was

I had put it down to indigestion as it happened in bed after my evening meal

At Christmas an angiogram showed that I had severe blockage to arteries round the heart and a Joint Cardiology Conference recommended a quadruple bypass

I have just had the operation and I am recovering at home

I have had Bisoprolol from my first visit to A&E and the dosage has been increased from 2.5 mg to 5 mg to 7.5 mg and now 10 mg

Before the operation one of the cardiac surgeons told me that I did not actually need surgery as I was symptom free-I was experiencing no more chest pains no more rapid heart-beat episodes and I could get by on medication but the underlying cardiac disease would remain

But they were prepared to do it if I wanted it-it was "elective" and "prognostic"

So I am now on the road of recovery to a symptom free existence

However issues remain with the side-effects of medication and communication within the NHS

My preferred method of communication is email and I get on very well with the clinical nurse specialist at the hospital (who I want to have all to myself) and the surgeon (in whom I have complete faith)

Relations with the GP (who I have hardly ever actually met over 20 years) are somewhat frosty and communication very one-sided

They can "ping" you a message on your mobile but you have to drive to the surgery to speak to the receptionist if you want something

(one is very nice-the other isn't-and they look alike or it might be the same one in a different mood)

You can phone for an appointment on the same day but you do not know who you are going to get or what they are going to do to you

I do feel for you

You are up against the system and a lot depends on your point of entry-A&E by ambulance or checkup at the surgery

You just have to keep trying-my next task is to try to get the GP to review the prescriptions set by the hospital on discharge which are causing me problems

The prescription list I had to take by car to the surgery and then go by car to the chemist for more painkillers

Later I tried phoning the surgery on Friday night but they are closed till Monday morning-fortunately it is not Bank Holiday

I too get a swaying sensation if I stand or walk for more than 20 minutes. I had treadmill/stress test to observe, what happened at 'sway' prior to collapse. I'm taking 1.25mg bisoprolol, tried other beta blockers but not suited too many.

I'm being investigated for ?? low blood pressure? lack of oxygen getting round system due to heart issues? medication query?

I would question GP or contact arythmia nurses, I find the latter more helpful.

Good luck

Thanks for your reply. My swaying rocking sensation only occurs when I am perfectly still from within side my chest. Seeing Consultant tomorrow to clarify. Not sure I am enjoying taking Bisoprolol makes me not want to do much at all and that's on the lose dose. Want to get my fitness back. Booked in an Arythmia clinic in October.
