I think it's probably hayfever and asthma but just wondering if this weather affects anybody else like that I sound so weird my voice is so weak and croaky πŸ˜•πŸ™ˆ only if I have been outside though? πŸ€”

The hot weather can make you more breathless on top of your asthma, so when you do speak, it can be slower, quieter and croaky as you say. I hope you’re not out when the sun is at its peak in the day. Better to go out early morning, or late afternoon/evening when the sun isn’t shining so bright.

Don’t forget, hydration is key in this weather x

Aw that makes so much sense thanks Tos. I was struggling a bit finically so couldn't afford to have a drink walked along way aswell but fortunately my mum and dad live close by so on my way back popped in for a drink and something to eat and mum lent me a hat and gave me a bottle of drink thank goodness otherwise I definitely would of got sunstroke for sure. Does this happen to you with your voice then or do you know of anwayone it's happend to. It's interesting to know what's causing it thanks again! My brother said I sound exhausted and I do lol. Take care in this heat Tos x

Make sure to take a drink with you when you go out from now on! Good thing your mum and dad live close by. My mum lives close by too, so I pop in to hers everyday to have a drink and a bit of gossip. If I walk for maybe 30 minutes in the heat non-stop without a drink, I’m pretty exhausted. My mum gets exhausted quickly in this weather due to her different medical conditions, and she struggles to catch her breath which affects her speech. She’s okay when she’s rested, I just think the weather exacerbates her symptoms x

Yeah I will I normally do but I didn't have any drinks it's my own faukr I should of just put tap water in a bottle lol I will next time. Yeah it's great having parents live close by I love it!. This weather wipes you out in it. I was exhausted yesterday I went to the gym, walked to my mums then to my sisters then back to mums and finally home safe to say I was exhausted and I couldn't sleep well in this heat either was a night mare! Yeah I think the weather definitely makes the symptoms worse. Aw I hope your mum's keeping aswell as is possible in this weather! X take care tos ❀️

Pollen levels are really high now, so that could by the cause of your weak and croaky voice.

I'm sleeping under just a quilt cover. This heat we're experiencing always reminds me how I wouldn't like to live in a hot country. I have to have all my windows closed at night as I have a dreadful fear of spiders and them coming in. Also having had my house burgled once, I'm always afraid someone will break in again.

Yeah I think your right there Jean I did take a hayfever tablet this morning supposed to last all day. Yeah I agree I can't even take the weather we get here in the UK I would probably die if I lived in a hot country! I definitely understand with the windows! I do keep them open because I don't have a fan yet but I'm scared stiff of having any spiders 😳. Ahhh so sorry to hear you have been burgled πŸ’”,i have aswell it's awful! Luckily me and my family was asleep at the time they brought a massive sledge hammer and left under a pillow in front room and that was on 1st April let's just say wasn't a very funny prank we had only lived there few months aswell! πŸ’”πŸ˜’

Horrible being burgled isn't it, enough to make you a nervous nutcase, especially when you hear of all the awful unprovoked attacks going on these days. It's not safe anywhere.

Yeah it's awful was so scared couldn't sleep properly for ages and they left the front door wide open! It's not safe anywhere anymore sadly 😒.

I too have my windows closed at night because of the mossies. I find bites most unpleasant. Just have a sheet over me. Very bad hayfever so take anti histamine which as Yumz says don’t last the 24hours, sniff up beaconaise and put anti-histamine eye drops in. Eyes, throat, nose all badly affected. Be Ok if they chopped my head off for about 6 weeks! Still I know it is seasonal and will pass.

Drink lots and lots of filtered water. I also have a bit of Himalayan pink salt in this heat. That is a juggle cos don’t want to raise my bp.

Hello :-)

It could be the dry air causing it along with asthma and hayfever :-) x

I have hay fever and asthma. I get this too. When the rapeseed’s out I can pretty much lose my voice altogether, for several weeks. I live in a rural area so can’t avoid it either πŸ˜‚

I used to react badly to rapeseed pollen. I dealt with it by eating ham sandwiches with loads of mustard on them each day during the season as a sort of aversion therapy. I seem to suffer less now as I'm older, but that may be because I take a Vitamin D supplement as part of my medication.

There does seem to be a bug going around that causes you to loose your voice but funnily enough you seem to produce a lot of phelgm overnight .No head cold.My hubby and I had it a few weeks ago and a couple of people at our bowling green have it or have had it.I would persue the antihistamine route first though.

I've been suffering with a gruff voice. Last weekend I got bitten by an insect and had to take antihistamines. They weren't very effective against the bite as I still have a swollen arm, but my voice is now nice and clear. πŸ˜€

We mustn't forget that pollen levels can be higher in the morning and evening as it gets pushed up into the atmosphere during the day by the heat. So avoiding the sun and getting outside when it's cooler could just be when the pollen is at its worst.

This happens to my husband all the time but worse in a heatwave.Take care plenty of fluids .We also have a problem with pollen from poplar trees at the moment so could be that.

I recently read that having a fan on in the bedroom at night can cause problems due to circulating dust.

Even before I was diagnosed with asthma, my voice would come and go like the tide. I've never trained Alexa to recognise my voice, because I don't recognise it half the time

Yumz199725β€’ in reply toDavey77

That's a good point it probably would be that if I had a fan πŸ˜…πŸ€£. Yeah I think it's the dry air and the exhaustion of being in the heat and asthma and hayfever so not a great combination aw it sounds so strange to talk aswell I hate it 😒🀣. I do have windows open at night but it's only when I go outside and walk in the heat my voice is affected. I am taking allergy tablets for hayfever they don't seem to do anything πŸ˜†.

During the pandemic, I took to using the Sterimar salt water spray which I use in the morning when I got home after I'd been in enclosed spaces. I now often find my nose a little "niggly" when I've been out, possibly due to pollen, so I use it then. Keeps my nose comfortable even if my throat is still a bit rough.
